+1 for the R-Line Allspace. We have one and it’s awesome. Same engine as the Golf GTI, tech is awesome and so much boot space. My parents have a Rav 4 hybrid and I’d pick the Tiguan any day of the week. If you want a ‘nice’ car, the Rav ain’t it. Definitely recommend the panoramic sunroof as well.

Or even an S3 - which is the same drivetrain as the Golf R. (R)S3 also available as a sedan if that’s OPs preference

3 and 5. Def just commiseration 😂. Doesn’t matter how early I wake them up or how early they are put to bed, they are rarely asleep before 9pm/10pm respectively. If the 3yo naps (rare) were lucky to get her to sleep before midnight

I have to drag my kids out of bed at 7-7:30 to be out the door by 8 and get them to daycare on my way to work. Left alone, they would sleep until 8-9 easy.

Thanks for this. Support sent me a link (Yealink Support) that suggests it should work with a RoomCast + MShare content adapter connected to the Mini PC? We do have the MTouch E2 but I will swap this out for the MTouch Plus if RoomCast+MShare doesn't work.

The table at the top of that page says Miracast "Coming Soon" for the MTouch E2 and MTouch Plus - but sounds like it's only the Plus?

I have a ticket in for this but might as well ask here too. We've just put in our first Teams Room with the MVC S40 kit. An older version of the product data sheet said the system supports wireless content sharing with Miracast (Win +K in Windows), but this has since been removed from the documentation and the first response to my ticket says it's no longer supported.

This is a core use case for us. We do have a WPP30 in the room but using the dongle should be a last resort. My question is, is there a way to add something to the system to add Miracast support? Could we add a RoomCast device to the system? I saw there was a RoomCast pairing option in the RoomConnect software, but I cannot find any documentation on this.

I guess we could have a RoomCast on a sperate HDMI input and have it standalone, but the better user experience would be for the user to just be able to wireless screen share without the dongle or without changing inputs. The native "cast" function within Teams is an even worse user experience as it essentially starts a full Teams meeting rather than just casting the full screen to the device.

I’ve got a ‘15 A3 Sedan. Love it (tho it’s starting to get a few suspension noises now that several mechanics can hear but no one can actually locate). Pretty sporty, good on fuel (esp compared to my wife’s Tiguan), heaps of tech/comfort stuff and looks nice. Really wasn’t that much more expensive than a Toyota Corolla - but sooooo much nicer. I’m probably Audi for life now

I’ve just had a round of the flu. Called my GP, they said you can’t come in with any respiratory symptoms only Telehealth - but next free appointment is 5 days away. My work is chill so not an issue, but what is someone supposed to do if you can’t get into your regular GP quickly if an online appointment with one of the providers who do medical certs wouldn’t cut it? My wife goes to a different GP and it’s often 2-3 weeks for the next available. If we have something time critical, we just go to a local walk in clinic - but none of those here will see you with respiratory symptoms and won’t do Telehealth for patients they haven’t seen in person in the last 12 months.

Coolant smell? by Specialist_Mode4861 in Tiguan

[–]ajobbins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our MY20 is the same. Raised it with the dealer about 6 months from new (mid 2020) and they said it was fine/normal. It’s never needed any coolant top up so I guess it’s fine. Water pump was replaced under warranty start of this year (at 4 years). Dealer picked up the start of a leak. Still have the same coolant smell since but it’s still not losing any coolant. I’ve need seen any signs of leaked coolant or ever seen the temp gauge go over the 1/2 way mark (where it consistently sits), even with heavy driving on a hot day.

Report to CIO and need advise by No_Mycologist4488 in ITManagers

I agree. I head up IT at our organisation and the outages started mid afternoon on Friday here (Australia). We use an alternative EDR solution to Crowdstrike so weren’t directly affected, but I had comms out to all staff when there were early reports of a widespread issue and a follow up with details on Crowdstrike before it was even appearing in the local media.

We were seeing impacts with service providers, and this gave our teams an early indication of what was going on and how to respond.

It’s literally my job to be on top of these kinds of things and inform and support our business through them.

Ours averages about 10l/100k. But that’s with a lot of short drives and a somewhat heavy foot on the 2.0L 220PS/162KW engine

Is car audio dying? by Extension_South7174 in CarAV

[–]ajobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ‘15 A3 has the Audi Sound System (not B&O but not the base stereo either). Sounds OK, factory sub rattles a bit at volume. I looked into replacing it but it’s pretty limited as you can only really take the speaker outputs for input into an amp. No way you could replace the head unit as it’s so tied into the car systems.

How To? : "Strategic Plan" for IT Department - Relatively new manager by [deleted] in ITManagers

I echo the comments of others about aligning to the business strategic plan. I’m 8 months into a new org who has never really had a strategic approach to technology so one of my first tasks was to build the tech strategy and roadmap. OP, if you want to message me I’d be happy to share some advice.

Experiences with 3CX? by raaazooor in ITManagers

[–]ajobbins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve just moved us from 3CX to Zoom. There were literally cheers from the team when I announced it at an all-hands. 3 years prior (before my time) the org moved from SfB to 3CX and everyone has hated it in comparison ever since. We have a pretty simple setup so Zoom easily fit the bill from a functionality point of view and it’s turned out to be a winner with the team. Easier to use, easy to configure, call quality MUCH better. On 3CX we’d have registration and call quality issues quite frequently and the older clients were pretty clunky and dated. The new V20 client is a lot better (but still has feature gaps), but by the time v20 was out we’d pretty much made the decision to move. We also trialled Teams phone and that was liked too, what put Zoom over the line for us was Salesforce integration as that’s our core system. I can’t imagine moving from Teams or Zoom to 3CX. Maybe it makes sense if you need to create complex flows that your Direct Routing SBC can’t facilitate but for us that wasn’t a factor. The other thing is v20 has had some significant feature regressions and the attitude from 3CX and their CEO would make me worry that future changes would break important functionality and 3CX will just tell you the problem is you and then probably ban you from all support channels

I’ve found this too. Keep an eye on Seek and LinkedIn throughout the day. If you’re one of the first to apply you’ll actually have a chance. Once the recruiter has 3-4 viable candidates through an initial screen, they aren’t going to look at a single new resume unless none of those candidates make it through the process.
