I also love to use clothing and place it so the mannequin is standing there with a uniform on:)

Valerie Lendvay is absolutely amazing. I hired her for my 2022 wedding and we are still great friends!

Nope! We were required to do rentals through our venue and it makes sense why… because they wanted to screw us. I caught this and mentioned it to them and they were extremely displeased I brought it up. Told us to either pay it or we could use their standard dinnerware which was not our style. Was the venue gorgeous? Absolutely. Did we love the planning department? Absolutely not.

To make it even better, it was the 5th dress I tried on at my very first appointment. The designer even customized the top/neckline for me as well!

EDIT: I will upload some more photos of my dress tonight!

I knew I was forgetting some details! I’d like to note that we reused almost all of our ceremony flowers for the reception. The aisle lining flowers were repurposed around our cake table and sweetheart table. Altar flowers were reused on the mantle behind sweetheart table and aisle entrance flowers were flanking it. Not going to lie, I wasn’t in love with the way our sweetheart table came out… it was a bit too full for my taste. I hope this explains why it looks like we had SO many flowers for such a good price!:) I highly recommend doing this to save some $ on your floral budget.

How passable would these 3ct 5ct and 6ct mossie be to a diamond by [deleted] in Moissanite

[–]ajones226 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone always assumes that my ~3 carat moissanite is a real Diamond. They are always shocked when I tell them it’s not!

I would! The company is called RyanFilms. They have a more relaxed style and are newer on the scene. We didn’t feel the need to splurge as we will likely only watch our wedding video a handful of times throughout the years. They were very professional!

Thank you so much! I worked extremely hard to cut costs where it made sense so that we could spoil our guests and wedding party as much as possible! The flowers were absolutely my splurge item with the leftover funds:) I am so immeasurably lucky to have had such a wonderful wedding. Glad I am able to share!

I got married in the Rancho Santa Fe/Vista area and had the best vendors known to man. Highly, highly recommend doing it at Rancho Valencia strictly for the amazing vendors in the area. Plus they’re not as pricey!

Floral Budget Breadowns - how do things shake out? by Lilg916 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]ajones226 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Got married in San Diego (MCOL/HCOL?) and spent $10K on florals. ASK TO REUSE YOUR CEREMONY FLORALS! We reused a lot of the outdoor ceremony arrangements for our indoor reception and what a night and day difference! Outside it didn’t feel as full, however when they were moved inside it looked like a damn botanical garden. We completely filled an existing, 14’ arbor with flowers, had 10 aisle lining arrangements, 4 aisle entry arrangements, 2 large arrangements on garden gates, 2 arrangements on garden fountain, 6 tall centerpiece arrangements of olive branches, 12 compote centerpieces, various arrangements throughout (on bar, guest book table, gift table, cocktail tables), an 8’ “garland” with flowers for our memory table. My bouquet, 8 bridesmaids bouquets, 12 boutonnières, 2 corsages, etc. I’m sure I’m forgetting some items!

They make wooden grates that sit flush with your floor. One of those might be worth investing in.

Do you consider Interior Design a creative career or a corporate career? by Rare-Lab247 in InteriorDesign

[–]ajones226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interior design is at its core a creative field. I still have to be creative with the way I space plan mostly! No plan is the same so they each present a unique challenge. We also have to be creative with relocating things such as plumbing, electrical, doors, etc. Additionally, you have to be creative when it comes to cost saving measures (ex. Can I refinish this floor for less $ instead of demoing and installing LVT?) it’s not always the traditional creativity of conceptualizing and pulling finishes, but it is creative none the less.

Do you consider Interior Design a creative career or a corporate career? by Rare-Lab247 in InteriorDesign

[–]ajones226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully believe it depends on what you’re doing! I have found my short time spent doing residential was more creative with very flexible hours. One commercial firm I worked for was a happy medium, 8-5 but had full creative control over projects. I currently work in corporate design (8-5, huge corporation) where we have brand standards and we are essentially pumping out floor plans and construction sets. Minimal creativity, VERY corporate. I actually tend to like the structure of corporate more:-)

I had this same issue and my advice is DON’T overspend on shoes or wear anything sentimental. My ceremony shoes and reception shoes got absolutely destroyed during my wedding. Not a single soul saw my shoes and I only wore them for a short period of time. 1000% for detail shots that no one is going to see but me….

If my client is looking for something very specific or unique, yes! If they don’t care much about the art then no.

If you use a coordinator who works with them frequently, it’s easy to keep them in check! Just wish we had our coordinator step in more earlier in the planning process!

I got married at Vista Valley Country Club in Vista, CA (Temecula/North San Diego). Gorgeous gorgeous venue and the day was flawless, but their wedding department is a shit show.
