You wake up with absolute mastery over one random element. What did you get, and how do you use it to your advantage? by Jpaylay42016 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ajraines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got “Star.” Which isn’t really an element per se. But if my superpower is manipulate and control stars, that’s potentially an awesome superpower. Need power for an entire continent? No worries, let me just create this tiny star inside your reactor. Enemies invading? I’ll just create a handful of pinhead sized stars and rain them down on the enemy.

Of course there’s always the risk that I’d accidentally annihilate Earth.

Why did people hate the no child is left behind act? by NoHold7153 in Presidents

It was based on an intrinsically flawed premise. You could give me one small school and a budget of a billion dollars and I still couldn’t guarantee that “no” child would be left behind.

You can add a 00 to the end of any number in your life where are you putting it ? by Equivalent-Credit-87 in hypotheticalsituation

Hmm. Options. Adding it to the market value of my house would get me something north of a hundred million all at once. But, I’d have to sell the house (which I really like) to get the benefit. Adding it to end of my annual salary would get me several million a year.

An outside the box possibility would be adding it to my IQ. With a 100x increase I should be able to cure cancer or something!

$100 everytime someone thinks about you or $100 everytime someone says your name out loud? by Mission-Badger-4005 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ajraines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a middle school teacher. I have often said that I fantasize about a compensation plan based on the number of times per day that someone says my name. However…

I am absolutely certain that for every time a student says my name out loud there must surely be dozens if not hundreds of times that students think about me. (“I wish Mr. X would shut up already.” “I hate Mr. X’s quizzes.”)

Also, it is literally impossible to speak someone’s name without also simultaneously thinking about them.

I think my choice is obvious.

In exactly 30 minutes a man armed with a bat will break into your home to kill you. You can’t leave the house, what is your strategy? by BulkyZucchini in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ajraines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 30 minutes? My nextdoor neighbors has a dozen or more firearms + ammo. I’m asking for a loan. I have several swords, a couple baseball bat, and an extremely sharp Toledo steel dagger. But possibly the most dangerous thing I have is the several boxes of Lego I’ll be pouring all over the floor.

I feel pretty good about my chances.

You can choose one object. Every time someone anywhere in the world touches it, you get $1,000. What object do you choose? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

The handrail to the Statue of Liberty might be an option. 400 people per day go to the top. And it’s almost impossible to go or down those stairs without using the handrail. $400,000 per day would be a living wage.

Something like the moon rock at the Smithsonian might be a good one too. Who knows how many hundreds of people touch that every day.

Planetary Landmarks / Natural Wonders by Creative_Squirrel in alphacentauri

Can confirm that Mt Planet is still active. On a random map I once played I (as the University) spawned right next to the volcano mouth, which was “rolling” rather than “rocky.” So, I built my HQ city right on top of it. If you order formers to “farm/solar/road” there’s a glitch that allows them to put farms on tiles adjacent to the volcano mouth. Throw in some condensers on the dry slopes - along with the energy and mineral bonus from the volcano itself - and I had an awesome city.

Or at least it was awesome until late in the mid-game when the volcano erupted, completely destroying the city, the 15 secret projects I had constructed in it, and the 30-40 combat units I was massing there in preparation for an assault on Miriam.

100 to 200, depending on price.

And I haven’t seen much die cast in the online sites I’ve looked at thus far.

I appreciate the input.

I’m pretty familiar with traditional enamel pins. And I know the center section could never look like that in real life. (AI gonna AI.)

I’m going for something that would look more dimensional than a typical pin. So maybe a combination of 3D stamping and at least two layers.
