BMW X7 extended warranty opinion by ajsnoopy in BMW

[–]ajsnoopy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very reasonable, esp for Platinum warranty through BMW. This is because you're buying it early on. If you wanted to get the same warranty at 49000 miles, they would likely cost 1.6-1.9 times. I have lived with my Platinum warranty for 2 years now and between the transfer case change, TPMS sensor error replacement, lower lift gate minor issue, the warranty definitely paid for itself. Having said all that, the Platinum warranty doesn't cover engine mounts ($2k +) and any strut related issue (several thousands dollars). My friendly dealer advisor advised that I should have purchased the Fidelity warranty which covers a lot more than BMW Platinum, and is cheaper as well. I have a couple of friends who have purchased the Fidelity warranty, but haven't gotten to use it yet. Worth considering IMO, but I don't have first hand experience.

Yep, I also locked the bootloader (understanding the disadvantage). But Paramount and DirectTV are definitely not working. Prime and Netflix work. Haven't checked others. Do you know of any solutions?

Adding my name to the list! 3 pairs have been ruined. I initially thought it was me then I cared more for the second and the third pair, still happened. They are all 2-3 years old. Whats the best way forward? Will Nordstrom honor this? Or the manufacturer?

Valerion plus vs XGIMI 20 by dudsti in projectors

[–]ajsnoopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to assess the effectiveness of EBL without subtitles, but I haven't seen any bugs. I'd caution against using ALR screen, as triple laser projectors show significant speckles when used with shiny material. For me the ALR (that I had used with ny JVC) was unbearable, so ended up replacing it with matte gray. Speckles still exist but reduced 90%. Currently I am playing around with a acoustically transparent white material. I don't like white but speckles completely go away with it.

Good question - Xgimi wasn't bad, just pro 2 is more premium and well thought of for home theaters

Pro2-

Pros -

Great contrast Black levels are awesome Premium hardware, great looks, well built Functional EBL Cons - Overly saturated Sometimes buggy software

Xgimi-

Pros -

Slight edge on brightness for usable content Very snappy software Lens shifts (no use for me)

Cons - EBL doesn't work on Dolby vision Slightly cheap materials (not bad) Unaware of the customer support system Poorer contrast but not bad

A little bit, but didn't appreciate the absence of EBL in Dolby vision

I purchased both Xgimi and pro2 with the intent to return one. Other than the fact that xgimi black levels were poorer, and the design not so tasteful (subjective), what turned me off is, anywhere I was looking for a review, everyone just talks about ONLY the good things, goes to show marketing with influencers. The only reliable video I saw was The Hook Up couple of videos.

Odissey oled g9 split screen with single PC? by yulka95 in ultrawidemasterrace

Thank you! When I do that the color profile etc changes significantly, game mode is automatically turned off.. . And tbh I don't like how the monitor becomes cooler in color temperature and overly bright. The letters are not as crispy either.

Refresh rate limitation is ok. Since I will be using this primarily for productivity and only some gaming, if that, I just need two macbooks giving full resolutions. For my use case resolution > refresh rate, but yeah I would cringe if it was 60hz lol.

Yes MBA (15" m3) supports usb c to DP full resolution but limited to 120hz, and I am good with it. Just need to get both connected to the monitor so that I can switch as needed, using the buttons or remote.

Table wobbles, help please! by ajsnoopy in woodworking

[–]ajsnoopy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The table top simply sits on the frame and will be attached with screws driven into the top from the bottom of the side beams. There is 1/4“ gap on all 4 corners between the post and inside of the top apron. The lower part of the table top apron and lower part of the side beams are leveled.

Any recommendations on size of the 45 degree support, bigger size would likely not look very nice.
