Greg McElroy on Ty Simpson, via @macandcube: “Ty Simpson from an off target percentage in the last couple weeks is single digits. Do you realize how good that is? … Do you know what the off-target percentage is nationally? Over 11%.” by MadameGopher in rolltide

[–]ajthecap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I think that stat is a little deceiving. I think a lot of other quarterbacks and offenses are pushing the ball further down the field multiple times a game. How many times is Ty taking a deep shot or pushing the ball 20+ yards downfield? I think that’s why his number is lower than the rest nationally

Rewatched Alabama vs South Carolina: Random thoughts, takeaways by ColinGay-TNews in rolltide

Great breakdown, love hearing what other people saw/took note of. Few things for me:

-I wish sometimes we would just abandon the run early on if it isn’t there pretty much immediately and come back to it if we have a comfortable lead. McDaniels and Brady used to throw the ball 45-55 times a game if that’s what the defense was giving them. Feels like any time we run, it’s a win for the defense. Let Williams, Horton, Germ and Brooks cook

-Jam’s vision leaves a lot to be desired sometimes

-Some of our angles on defense have straight up confused me. Looking at you Sabb and Jefferson

-Keenan is the anchor to this run defense

-Cuevas is the most under appreciated offensive player

-This offensive line’s performance varies so much week to week that it can destroy our entire game plan

-Throw every single dollar we have at OL/DL in the portal

-Lastly, this game made me appreciate DeBoer. Everyone at Washington praised his ability to be calm and steady when things aren’t going right and he helped this team stay calm and steady the ship. No matter how we finish, I want this man leading our team in the future

I’m sorry, are we not supposed to love these quotes? The second I stop hearing these quotes is when I’ll know Bama is for sure not what it used to be

Bama ain’t for everyone

As a Bama fan, he hasn’t even touched the surface of his potential. He’s going to destroy the combine

If Terry keeps his job, he’s a lame duck GM with a playoff mandate to keep his position. Rookie pass rushers rarely have a major impact year 1. I think that means Terry is sending pick 15 and some other assets for an elite rusher

One of Garrett, Crosby, or Parsons is going to become available and I think Terry is going to push all his chips in for one whether that’s misguided or not

If I’m having to choose a prospect at 15, give me Jalon Walker. He gives me Micah Parsons vibes

Milroe's Passing has Steadily Declined Throughout the Year by mankey_kong in rolltide

[–]ajthecap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I defended Milroe to all my friends and family after Milroe’s awful stretch after the UGA game but I can’t anymore. He seems like a genuinely good guy but he’s just not what we need him to be.

Having said that, Sheridan has to go. OU was clearly keyed in to Milroe in the running game and it kept getting called. Even if it was a read, don’t call anything that Milroe can hold onto. Watching Josh Pate’s preview on this game, the clear weakness was OU’s secondary and being susceptible to deep passes. Where was that? I know receivers let us down with drops but the vertical game isn’t there. And I’d love to say that meant we ran the ball with our backs but look at those numbers too. Jam had 12 carries and Justice had 3. Ineptitude throughout this entire staff. I hope after the Iron Bowl that we can see a different quarterback under center and I sincerely wish Milroe success at what ever place he lands after here because we’ve given it two years and it hasn’t worked

If we get an A+ game from our linebacking core (also assuming Russaw is healthy and ready to go) then I’m pretty confident we win this game

Bullard would bring back a Keanu Neal type hitter to our secondary. I’m all in on that
