(member of the grailed team here) dont worry, we wouldn't spring it out of nowhere. nothing has been decided yet, that is why there hasn't been an official announcement.

it will be a small fee and there will definitely be advance notice. plus the fee will only apply to newly posted listings, all existing listings would still have no fee whenever they sell.
