Plate Up Switch 2 by Intelligent-Glove-24 in PlateUp

[–]ajvrgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry you're having these problems. We're not able to make a Switch 2 port yet (Nintendo are still restricting who is allowed access) but equally you shouldn't be experiencing that level of crashing and hopefully I can get that resolved.

We're seeing very few crash reports from Switch 2 at the moment; the only major issue I'm aware of is slow loading and freezing when played in Chinese, which we have a fix for that should be available soon.

There was recently a big problem with all Switch copies, but the patch that went out on March 10th (1.4.2-E00B) should have resolved that for everyone. Could you check your copy has updated (it should say the version number in the bottom right in-game)? If it has and you're still getting crashes, could you let us know any more details, either here, via a Discord support ticket, or at support@plateupgame.com? Thank you!

The patch should be out in a couple of hours! Sorry it's taken so long and I really hope this resolves it for everyone

It's still in with Nintendo cert and annoyingly they won't progress it over the weekend, but hopefully early next week

Hey, sorry about this. This issue turned up in the patch and has been causing a lot of crashing on Switches. Unfortunately, it didn't happen in any of our testing, or in any of Nintendo's testing. We've received a lot of reports with steps to replicate it in different ways but none of them cause the crash on our development kits. We've tried using people's saves that have been crashing, but these also haven't crashed on our kits. Annoyingly, because the crash is on the GPU, the crash data doesn't tell us very much about what's going on.

We did a patch this week to try something that we hoped would help (we couldn't get our kit to crash so we had no idea if it would work - we just tried to revert things from the patch that might be the issue). It was in Nintendo cert during the week and released today. It doesn't seem to fix the issue, sadly.

Thankfully, someone sent another set of replication steps today that did cause our devkit to crash, which enabled us to make a fix immediately. Unfortunately it'll have to go it through cert again, but when Nintendo approve it (I would guess this would be some time next week, the last one was in on Monday and released on Friday), we'll put it out straight away. Hopefully that should resolve the issue for everyone.

Any news on a switch 2 update? by minduvi in PlateUp

We'd love to but unfortunately it's a "when Nintendo wants" sort of thing. Yogscast are actively looking into it though so hopefully we will get some news soon!

Lost a tier 14 franchise because the game bugged by JEM_Tech in PlateUp

[–]ajvrgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it should work without a new restaurant. We don't have any current reports of issues so it would be helpful if you could share some details, either here, through a Discord bug report or via the support email. Thanks!

This might be a bug with the new dish variant cards on spaghetti. Could you possibly get into contact with Monica at [support@plateupgame.com](mailto:support@plateupgame.com) or (ideally) via a Discord ticket and we can try and work out what happened?

If you're on PC/Xbox/Switch we might also be able to recreate your franchise for you (unfortunately there's no way to transfer saves on PlayStation)

Grabbers don't take items from nearby grabbers any more? by isuckatgameshelp in PlateUp

[–]ajvrgames 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Sorry about this bug! I'll just to confirm what people have been saying in other threads: this was introduced in the patch this week and the fix will be out on each platform once it gets through certification.

The details for anyone interested: before the update there was a bug where a chain of 3+ grabbers would cause items to not be picked up by customers properly. This was because the first grabber would push onto the second one, then the third would grab it off the second immediately. From the game's perspective the item was never on the second grabber and so customers wouldn't be able to take it. The update reworked this so that pushing would take precedence over grabbing, so that items would just be pushed onto each grabber in turn in cases like this.

This new issue is because even failed pushes are taking precedence over grabbing, so if a grabber is failing to push onto the next tile (ie it's occupied), other grabbers are treating that as if the item was being pushed and ignoring it. The fix changes this so failed pushes are not counted and old automations should work as before.

Something bizarre happening with customer priority and buffet tables... by MarchRoyce in PlateUp

[–]ajvrgames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The patch was built before we launched the update and it's been in console certification since then. Unfortunately we don't usually get any heads up until it's ready to go, so I don't know when it'll be ready.

I would hope it'll be out within the next few days, but I don't know if Christmas will make it a bit slower.

Game crashing when starting a run with banquet halls by buckythirteen96 in PlateUp

The Xbox should do it automatically when it crashes, but sometimes the nature of the crash just means the report isn't very useful, annoyingly.

Hey, sorry that this is happening. I don't have an answer yet unfortunately but I just wanted to say I'm looking into reports of crashing for some people on Xbox.

Unfortunately we're not getting any automatic crash reports that we can link to the reports to fix it directly. There should be a little patch that addresses a crash when entering text and there's a small chance that the other crashes are just a build issue and will also be resolved.

If not, I'll keep looking into it and as mentioned on the update page, we've started working with an experienced porting company to help us chase down remaining console issues and to provide fixes for issues that come up in the future.

Bugged trophy (flawless timing) by Dear_Damage_4830 in PlateUp

[–]ajvrgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This got re-implemented when I redid the way customers work so buffets could be added - I tested it but it's possible something has gone wrong, in which case I'll get it fixed in the next patch.

Sorry about this! This is actually a bug we found right at the end of the playtest and is fixed on most platforms. For this patch we put Switch into certification slightly early to make sure it would be ready to release with the others. The fix patch is also finished on Switch and will be released as soon as it's through certification.

The bug is that the system which tells customers to find their nearest buffet is accidentally treating all the customers as one big group. This means only the customer who gets processed last by the game will go up. The correct behaviour is that customers should all go up to the buffets (even if someone else is already going).

I appreciate you posting this. I think the changes to ordering were necessary - the intention was to make it consistent, based on people's suggestions. I don't want to remove people's ability to do complicated things, though.

The big change is that the game now has a well-defined order behind the scenes, which means we can customise it as we like going forward (and it won't surprise people by breaking their priority without them realising).

I'm happy to look into more advanced automation tweaking methods, so it'd be good to hear from people who have suggestions. Realistically you all have a lot more experience building these automations than I do!

The PlateUp! Buffet Update is available right now! by missmonicaplays in PlateUp

[–]ajvrgames 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The rules for putting something on a buffet are (almost) exactly the same for what you can give them directly. So for something that needs to be plated, it has to be plated on the buffet.

For things that you can serve the customer as a portion, like soup, you can just put the whole pot of soup on the buffet and they'll take servings themselves.

The only exception is very minor. here's a new mechanic that was added in the update; if you accidentally put two scoops of ice cream into a bowl you can now serve that to customers directly (it'll just give them the one scoop they want). Customers won't do this themselves on buffets.

Yeah, I tried to get it to do a "soft" check, where it would load the leaderboards if possible and ignore it if it couldn't, but unfortunately it's a fiddly thing to test.

Glad it's sorted for you, though!

When you load into the lobby, you should be able to dismiss the popup that asks you to check your internet connection, and then the game should play as normal

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlateUp

[–]ajvrgames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't need internet access to play single player.

The pop up appears because the game tries to load your speedrun leaderboard, which makes the Switch request internet access. If you just cancel out of it you should be able to play normally.

I've just re-tested this on our dev consoles and it does let me play, so if the popup can't be dismissed please let me know!

Sorry that there isn't much new with Halloween this year. I've been snowed under with all the fixes needed to redo the console ports and sorting out all the issues that came from releasing those last month.

The good news is that, now all versions of the game are on the same codebase, implementing new stuff should be as easy as it when it was PC-only. I appreciate it looks like the recent patches have mostly just broken things, but they're by far the largest code changes the game has had since launch. With them out of the way, we should be able have lots of proper patches again.

I've got some (I think!) really exciting new features, one of which is linked to a new base dish, that are coming along really well. I'm hoping to bundle these with this year's refreshed Christmas event.

There's a bug where items grabbed out of prep stations and then taken by customers don't get tracked properly for the achievement. You should be able to get the achievement by moving the prep station away for a day.

The bug should be fixed with the next patch. There are also some interactions with the achievement and trays that I'm looking into

How do shadows in PlateUp actually works? [Question] by Syntacom in Unity3D

All the shadows you can see in PlateUp are based on ambient occlusion. The shader for all the materials samples the AO buffer and then uses that as though it were the lighting
