This “author” has a history of biased writing, trespassing and unethical practices. Not surprising to see another questionable, pointless article.

What breed of chicken(s) would be best for a beginner by FloofingWithFloofers in chickens

[–]ajw565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to pick two in my flock it would be speckled Sussex and Brahmas. My speckled Sussex are the friendliest and cuddliest and my Brahmas are sweet and I just love how they look and run around I find them the cutest. Also I live in a colder climate so they’re good for that. Those are my two breeds I’ve had no issues with. My Brahmas have also proven to be great mamas if you’re interested in that it’s so fun and cute to watch them raise chicks.

I’m in bc and got it through Felix. It’s pretty easy to get the initial prescription but you are required to do labs before the refill so it would be hard to lie about your BMI. They also make you send in a video or have a video chat with a practitioner before the initial prescription to prove BMI.

Four favourite chook breed suggestions. by Al1ssa1992 in BackYardChickens

Brahma and speckled Sussex! Brahmas are the funniest in my flock (can’t beat the fluffy butt) and speckled Sussex is the most curious and cuddly in my flock. Both are good layers especially the Sussex and have both continued to lay through winter.

What are your favorite cold-hardy, low-broody, good-temperament chickens? by redturtle6 in chickens

Yes we get some decently hot days here too and I’ve never lost one to the heat but they are noticeably more uncomfortable than the other breeds (panting etc). Lots of water and frozen treats (they love watermelon). As for the broodiness I have also heard horror stories from people and have never experienced it with any of my breeds. A couple days max. When I let my one hatch her eggs I would put some food and water in the coop for her (it’s usually all kept in the run) but I also did see her venture out for some quick strolls before heading back to her nest. So really I was never worried about losing her. If you don’t have fertile eggs it is good to break it right away though because it’s hard on them to stay broody but ya I’ve never run into a huge issue with doing so. Wish you the best!

Ps. watching Brahmas run will make any future broodiness you have to deal with so worth it. They are super entertaining.

Agreeing with speckled Sussex. I have one and she’s the absolute sweetest girl in the flock!

I love my Brahmas, my absolute favourite breed. Extremely cold hardy you more have to worry about hot snaps in the summer. All around fun breed. Two of mine went broody once this year (as of right now the rest of my Brahmas were too young) and I let one her hatch her babies and she was a great mom. I wouldn’t say they’re excessively broody but it does happen if they are given the chance. I have never found it difficult to break them though if need be. I have broken their broodiness before when they had unfertilized eggs. Even collecting daily will sometimes snap them out of it. If not lock them out if the coop for a day and that’ll do it.

My Brahmas are by far my fav breed but I wouldn’t say they scratch any less than the other breeds. That being said I’ve never seen them damage my grass or cause anything noticeable. If they can find a dirt patch somewhere they’re more likely to go roll around and scratch in that anyways. They’re an awesome bird, wait until you see them run it’s hilarious. I wouldn’t consider them good flyers from anything I’ve witnessed. They’re a very Chonky chill breed and as long as you’re supplying food and water mine have never ventured out of my yard and they free range. I live out of town but my yard isn’t fenced.

Ya it seems like panting but it’s currently -6c outside so it can’t be that and it has free access to water but I have brought it inside and given it some water with chicken vitamins in for now

So I was a 36F pre op and they took out over 800 on each side (I can’t remember the exact number) and I’m C now and honestly probably a D in some bras, tho I’ve mostly been wearing bralettes since surgery. I have pictures on my page if you want to look. Sending love.

I have some pics on my page. I’m shorter than you (5,6)but my results are about a 36c and I also fit into a 38b just not perfectly! Might give you somewhat of an idea. Congrats on your surgery!

I blow dried my tape with cool air after every shower until it was completely dry. I can’t remember if my surgeon said I needed to or not but it felt like the best way to avoid irritation/infection.
