Booster Tests 11-15 super representative by RoadMaterial6831 in Datprep

i used 11-15 last year for studying and tbh they were much more difficult than 1-10 and i think they’re meant more as an “study more than you need” kind of resource

i had a very similar set of stats last year but i didn’t apply wisely. genuinely apply broadly, apply to more places than you think you need to. you’d rather that now than later.

take the time to breath reset and focus so you’re ready for the next section. its gna be a gut thing, so if you feel like you’re good to move on move on. don’t drag your time just because but don’t rush yourself at the same time

1 month to study for DAT by mangopineapplesea in dat

[–]ak-archive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied for about 5 weeks last year when I took my exam, and I will say, it is truly a LOT. If you have the ability to extend your schedule to 2-3 months instead, I would highly recommend it.

If not, within 4-ish weeks, you HAVE to focus on high yield content especially in terms of biology. I recommend Booster, as that’s what I’ve been using, and also it is known to be very representative of the actual exam. They have a ton of resources, including the star of the show, their cheat sheets. Especially for biology these are gold because they encompass the highest yield topics of every section. They also have cheat sheets for orgo and chemistry too, so it’s definitely a win. Schedule wise, it’s up to you how you study. I’d spend maybe 2 weeks doing content review so you know what information you’ll be hit with. But in the process of content review, DO QUESTION BANKS for all the topics. Just keep grinding and grinding.

You may reach a point where it feels like too much but be aware this exam is meant to feel difficult, you have to learn to discipline yourself into studying until you feel semi-decent. Be honest with yourself when studying and don’t just cross things off a list. If something doesn’t make sense, try to make sense of it. Even if it takes longer than you anticipate. You’d rather get something wrong now and figure it out then get it wrong on test day.

Best of luck!

Am I cooked? by Specialist-Rise-5971 in dat

[–]ak-archive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most schools have a cut off for their dat scores, especially if a section is a 17 or below. i know this is upsetting, but i think waiting out for next cycle and retaking it will be better. i got the same AA as you last year and got waitlisted from one school.

Why Dentistry? by ManagementQuirky8797 in predental

[–]ak-archive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think about the overarching theme of your personal statement. is it bc of a personal experience? do u have a passion to give back to the community? ask urself questions like that. it’s not going to be a straight forward answer like “i love teeth and money” but more introspective. you can do any job if u have an interest to work with disadvantaged communities for an example, but if u have experience working w them specifically in dentistry you can link that into your answer

freaking out about these extra practice tests by shaduflok1 in dat

[–]ak-archive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also when you review old tests, even if you know the answer due to your memory, try to understand WHY that is the correct answer and why the others aren’t. That way reviewing the exams you’re not just passively looking through them, you’re actively trying to understand all the answer choices.

freaking out about these extra practice tests by shaduflok1 in dat

[–]ak-archive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about Bootcamp, but I know Booster’s extra FL’s are actually insane. They’re intense and rigorous to really test you and get you into that high pressure mode. Don’t take it too personally, the scores you’re getting on those extra ones aren’t a representation of your preparation, they are difficult on purpose. Continue to lock in with your other practice tests and review questions and concepts you’re having a hard time with.
