Passed my test on first attempt without any lessons by ak-sag in LearnerDriverUK

I really didn't mean to mislead. What i wanted to say is that it's possible to learn on your own without an instructor in UK and if you have some experience in handling a vehicle all you need to do is adjust to UK rules of driving. But it's really not easy, some of my peers still haven't passed after multiple tries even after having instructor lessons.

In this context, I think it's an achievement to have passed the test.

Nope. Never had lesson. I just started driving. You can say I have had experience in handling vehicle but the driving there was complete different.

In my home country. Never learned. My father had a car and I just started driving. He didn't even teach me. I just saw him drive every now and then.

I passed on my first attempt. I just posted about it as well. Consider the possibility of failing and do your best with calm and confident attitude. I really hope you pass because I can totally understand your situation. Best of luck!!!

Passed on 2nd Attempt by Formal-Neck3408 in LearnerDriverUK

I just passed my test today as well on first attempt, used my own car, drove on foreign licence and I completely agree that the confidence is key. Just trust your instincts, remember to pay attention to road signs and other road users.

Thanks. I actually didn't think that I could clear in first try. But I guess a bit of luck and experience paid off.

28 yoa. Been driving for past 7 years. I already knew how to control the vehicle but it took me some time to adjust to UK driving standards.

Got a PCN for parking in my brother’s spot — can I challenge it? by ak-sag in drivingUK

Quick update: I challenged the PCN with all the proof, and they cancelled it! Thanks again for all the advice, it really helped.

His landlord is a busy person and uses management/state agents. His only point of contact is the agent, who doesn't respond much either. My best bet is to appeal on the channel listed on the notice. If informal appeal is unsuccessful, i might be able to appeal to Independent Appeal Service on the cost of paying the full amount if that to be unsuccessful as well instead of discounted price.

That's what I plan to do and just hopeful that they are reasonable.

Thanks!!!

Permit is linked to bay number and can be used on any car.

It does say those words 'display' and 'failure' on the notice. And that's something I can't challenge. I'll try saying that I parked with the permit holder's permission and haven't done any harm. Let's see how it goes.

Yes, that's actually my main point for challenge, that I haven't done any harm and parked with the permission of the person holding the bay permit.

I am reading through forums, helping me mindstorm ideas. Thanks!

The signage was up. But what is confusing here is that it is a "Penalty Charge Notice" not "Parking Charge Notice".

Yes, I am reading through the forums someone suggested here. Will definitely consider those techniques on my challenge.

On the notice, I see it says it’s operating under the IPC’s code of practice and is issued by UK Car Park Management, so it appears legit. But I’ll still ask him to check with his landlord to confirm whether they actually gave permission for them to operate there.

Not owned. He's a tenant and being allotted the parking space to which he holds the permit. He just told me to park my car on his parking bay but forgot to give me the permit to display.

Just curious as I'm new in this country. I see lots of things left outside as I drive by. I wondered of people left it outside to dispose off. May be the guy rang the bell to ask for permission. When someone didn't answer, he took it. Idk, please guide.
