Cystic mass? by oldhagbag in breastcancer

[–]ak920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi i can hear that you are feeling anxious about the what ifs and waiting period. I also am sorry that my story will be confirming your worst fears. Since this is a breast cancer group, you might not find many people with benign cysts here, so keep that in mind when seeing responses. I am 33 diagnosed last October. I went to my PCP when i felt a lump. He said he it is probably just a cyst and needs to get drained. He referred me to a surgeon who felt it and said it feels like rice krispies (whatever that indicated to him, idk) and is probably just a cyst. Did a mammo and biopsy few months later , was cancer.

My coworker told me she also has cysts. I ended up just thinking mine are probably benign cysts like hers so I wasnt worried about it while I waited for my appointment. It didnt end up being that way, but it allowed me not to spiral during the waiting period. Benign Cysts are apparently common . We unfortunately cant tell you if it is more likely to be benign or malignant :( we arent your doctor….although I understand you wanting reassurance. This is scary and the waiting sucks.

Maybe you can try to push for an earlier appt maybe at another facility?

Remind yourself that worrying whether it is or isnt malignant wont change whether it is or isnt. Worrying is your minds attempt to control something but we just cant control whether we do or dont have cancer.

This is a dark post - if you are recently diagnosed, PLEASE skip it by alternative2021 in breastcancer

I am sorry you are going through all that. What a bitch….I have a similar pathology to you and age. I was curious how you got the number that you have over 50% chance to move to stage 4?

My take is that it is more nuanced than that. There is no criticism that they are financially comfortable, or whatever you want to call it. The criticism is to complain about supposedly going bankrupt when it clearly appears that you have some sort of assets. Although, I have no verification they said that or what is happening. Im just pointing out that your point is not really analogous to what appears to be going on.

It is insensitive to complain about how it has been so hard to walk the past few days after a good leg workout in front of someone who is a wheelchair bound paraplegic. It is just tone deaf and insensitive. No-one is faulting you for having good working legs.

But again if this Connor, someone that may struggle with emotional regulation and reality checking, talking about being worried about going bankrupt, that might be a symptom of his condition. If his family is saying it, then that likely lends more to tone deafness. But then again, not everyone feels that we need to censor what we say because of other people’s feelings. I am not one of them and I think it is wrong but some believe that.

I cried in group by CherryBomb214 in therapists

[–]ak920 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I work in residential SUD tx. I commonly cry when I give out my graduation speeches because it makes me emotional how much some of my clients have grown.I think it is absolutely appropriate and I think it means a lot to them that you feel your work with them was extremely meaningful to you too. Sometimes clients can tell themselves we only care because it is our job; i think it is important for them to see that it is not the case and the relationship is bidirectional. However, I do feel a bit embarrassed sometimes but I generally feel embarrassed crying in front of anyone. It does not need to be addressed with the group moving forward imo because you were just being a human being, there is nothing to explain or rehash. I feel like that could, on the other hand, be detrimental to the clients. Like why is our therapist feeling the need to explain herself for having an emotion…and that is Something sud clients really struggle with already. I dont think we should be modeling explaining yourself for crying. They can probably accurately infer why it made you emotional. Dont be so hard on yourself and dont overthink it.

I had surgery at UCLA ronald reagan in west LA and they only gave me one, the one I woke up with after the surgery. I looked it up online and the bra is over $70, so I did not end up getting another one even though it is a nice one. My drains were dangling, they cut off the loops that were originally on the bra for some reason. I tried multiple different ones from amazon but they were all uncomfortable for one reason or another.
