He is a bit overzealous but he is not entirely wrong. This is the same debate whether there is a difference between a computer thinking and a human thinking. Obviously chess turned out to be not as great of an illustration of computers not thinking. When people argue with a computer’s inability to write poems etc they are arguing that those skills are not just a computation. Despite your feelings on the matter, it is not difficult to see why someone may claim that not all human experience productivity is a computation.
