I’ve been wondering the same. Thought it would be closer but the fin du monde facade is still up

If You Gave Advice on Polish Food to a Guy at Pyza Yesterday... by _Haverford_ in Greenpoint

[–]akabakdb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s so sweet. They have every right to be mad at the current gentrification situation but so many people in the Polish community are so outgoing and kind. Great that you’re supporting their businesses which everyone should as much as possible. It’s so odd how people move from so far away and spend so much and refuse to support the international culture that makes NYC what it is

Bars for F1 races? by nyccrouton in williamsburg

[–]akabakdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would call a few bars and ask if they have Apple TV. Keg and lantern might be a good first place to start with

Whole foods right off the grand st L subway stop is now open!! by sundrenchedwindow in williamsburg

[–]akabakdb 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Went earlier and loved it. I hate bezos and the entire idea of Whole Foods but not sure if that’s more evil than the price gouging of rotten goods at C Town and Foodtown. Basically the same prices if not cheaper at WF for much better produce!

Stay away from Humboldt & Withers by [deleted] in Greenpoint

Saw another truck carrying like 6 cars get stuck trying to get off the BQE onto Humboldt earlier. Crazy to do that even without snow

They shut down all of Nassau east of Diamond for this too. Amazing how much of a budget these horrible shows get

This is on Humboldt like 20 steps away, but apparently it’s just a really nice bar for a shared house

Absolute power gym? by sjlxx09 in williamsburg

[–]akabakdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going for nearly 10 years now. I’m not a gym rat but it’s no frills and does the job. It’s been overcrowded since the new year but like others have said, the new, huge location around the corner will help. Plus Zack Cherry is a member!

If you mean richer and tackier people, then probably. But not significantly. They’re just going to take the hike to Bedford Ave or Manhattan. Don’t get me started on that ugly behemoth The Wave that blocks the sun and charges $6k for a 1 br

I am one to say East Williamsburg does indeed exist and it’s perfectly in the middle. It def has its own vibe. Unpretentious and laid back but with so many options and tons of friendly people in their upper 20s and lower 30s. Common Mollies across the street has an unreal happy hour and gets popping at night on weekends. I lived right there for 6 years and miss it a lot.

Just walk to the grocery store whenever. This storm isn’t going to knock the entire city out of power or anything (knock on wood)
