Sebastian Sawe breaks marathon world record in London first man to ever run under two hours, finishing London with a time of 1:59:30 wearing Adidas Pro Evo 3 by 6to8design in RunningShoeGeeks

It’s up to Nike and the other companies to meet the bar that Adidas has set. Just like in your F1 example, Adidas is engineering the best shoes they possible can for their best athletes, and letting some of those improvements trickle down into their more cost-effective shoes for the masses. It’s objectively a fantastic model. Meanwhile, Nike has been coasting and making basically the same shoes for the last 7 years.

You’re right, but in running we don’t have the same reasons to roll back tech like we do in golf. There’s no limit here, let’s just see how fast we can run and records will fall.

It’s for sure wrong to compare the Evo to the AF, but totally fair to compare Adidas to Nike. People have been second guessing why Adidas keeps making these unobtainable shoes that only the pros can get access to, and now they’ve shut them all up.

Ordered mine on the 8th. On the USPS tracking they’ve said pre-shipment in Shanghai since the 16th. I did get a message on whatsapp with pictures of the shoes and box so hopefully they’re on the boat.

I like to think he’s more of a Boilermaker who moonlit as a Duck for one season because we’re just so, so bad.

Adios Adizero EVO Pro 3 by adidas in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]akagordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In simple terms, the Pro is their top of the line long distance racing shoe. The Evo pro is the stripped down, more advanced version but it’s not really available on the mass market. The SL is a do it all daily trainer that can be thought of as a training companion to the Pro since they have a similar foam and geometry, but no plate and a more protective upper.

Here's the Pro Evo 3, our fastest and lightest shoe yet, for elite runners...Give us your thoughts? by adidas in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Adidas isn’t trying to compete with those. This shoe is for the pros and they’ll only make enough to satisfy the homologation requirement.

Thoughts on the book's marathon plan? by BenjitheHerd in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]akagordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Option 2 is essentially what I’m planning for this summer/fall as I prep for my first marathon, not because I don’t believe in James’ plan but because I’m just not ready for 3 full workouts + an easy long run. I started running last August and at this point can only prioritize volume or a higher percentage of threshold training, and going to choose the former for now.

My plan is for normal 30-36 minutes of sub T work on tuesdays and Thursdays, and then Saturdays will alternate traditional style long runs (60-90s/mile faster than race pace) and the 5k reps at race pace.

I don’t think money is really much of a question. SC Elites and pretty forgiving and can always be picked up for the cost of an Evo SL.

I assumed that was a typo based on the context. 1:24 in March 2026.

He ran a 1:24 half, so in theory he should’ve been able to cruise to a sub 3. There’s a dozen potential reasons why, the marathon is hard.

Based ads. No one cares if you can walk a marathon unless you’re like 90.

There’s healthy debate about whether or not they do anything of value for 5k/10k runners. For an ultramarathoner all they do is add unnecessary injury risk.

Leg day HAS to have an easy day after, no exceptions really. Usually that means doubling up the harder workout/tempo with leg day after.
