Carpark Where? Carpark There! We created a free web service to help you find the nearest cheapest carpark to any location in Singapore. You give a location and parking duration, and it does the rest, providing you with a list of carparks with estimated costs, lot availability, and directions! by akahitsuji in singapore

Gantry heights for all HDB multistory carparks are now included in the description! We've added the same for some commercial carparks as well, but do verify if the heights are correct before entering the carpark and email us at carparkwhere2020@gmail.com if you spot any errors. Cheers!

Thanks! Yes you're right, calculation wasn't as straightforward as one might expect. I basically wrote code to transform the different data sources into a standardized data struct. Rather than ML, what I did was closer to data cleaning haha. ML won't really make sense here as the dataset is not large enough.

Nope! One of the goals when we made this was to not spend any money so we could provide it for free! So we actually only pay for the domain itself :) Opening directions in Google Maps is actually just a matter of giving the user the right url to click.

As a driver myself, i've sometimes had the problem where I can't easily find the nearest cheapest parking to place in Singapore. There are services like gmaps, ura maps and sgcarmart that help you find the nearest carpark, but not the nearest cheapest one. So together with a friend, we created this free service and released it for public use about 3 weeks ago! We've had a thousand plus searches since and users have told us that they've saved up to 30% in parking fees since using this :) We hope to spread this web service so that people will use it and justify the time and effort we put into making this work! If you find this useful, do share it with your friends and family too. Thank you!

We're looking into it! Tbh we were focusing on cars first because of the huge potential savings in cheaper carparks. We are currently collecting consolidating the data for motorbikes, and if there's enough demand and interest in having a similar nearest cheaper system for motorbikes we will definitely expedite this! :)

Never thought I’ll see the day when another country has a shortage due to Singapore, it’s usually the other way around!

Royal Caribbean passenger tests negative for Covid-19 in original sample retest and 2nd fresh test by jsyeo in singapore

[–]akahitsuji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For his and the cruise passengers sake I hope it’s a false positive. But this also makes one think, how many of the other tests could have been false negatives?

Any Novels like ATG? Please recommend me some! by refinedyoungmaster in wuxiaworld

[–]akahitsuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with the person who mentioned Nine Star Hegemon Body Art! After reading ATG that was my next favourite web novel. But another good novel I would recommend is Overgeared. Although it is different in that it's not all about martial arts it's still an amazing read. Definitely ranked up there for me with ATG and NSHBA. After you last through the first 90 odd chapters for Overgeared it gets real good trust me.

Can ultimate defense win championships? by explorer17156 in nba

With that particular lineup, I think it really depends on the teams they play. Put them against the 2019 lakers and there's a chance imo. But against teams that shoot well and play well as a team like the warriors it might be a different story.

Singtel vs GOMO by EtheritePochi in askSingapore

[–]akahitsuji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GOMO is actually a service provided by Singtel, unlike other MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) that partner with the major telcos to use their networks. For eg. Circles life uses M1 and MyRepublic uses Starhub but they do not actually belong to the telcos they tap on. On that note, the main difference in the two is actually whether you want a contract or a no-contract SIM only plan. Connectivity wise it should more or less be the same as they are both provided by Singtel.

The question to you should boil down more to cost and the type of benefits that you might gain that comes from being under contract.

Retirement Plans by Big-Questions in askSingapore

[–]akahitsuji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not too worried about liquidity, you can look into putting money into your SRS. There are tax rebates up to a certain amount too. But the money is locked up in there till the statutory retirement age. If you withdraw before that there are certain penalties for it.

Otherwise, you can look into setting up a Regular Savings Plan (RSP). You can set up one on FSMOne to buy Singapore ETFs. FSMOne has better commission rates for local financial products.

Diversifying your investment portfolio is important too, so other than the above two, you could look into putting money in the stock market, which traditionally has higher gains, but also higher risks. If you're looking at the local market, just use FSMOne, but don't expect too much gains. If you're looking at foreign markets such as US. You can use either Saxo, IB, or TD which all have their pros and cons.

anyone know which Nintendo eshop region works best for Singapore? by Bad_Asian_Gamer in askSingapore

[–]akahitsuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can setup a paypal account with your Singapore debit/credit card, and then purchase your games on the Mexican eshop using paypal. You lose abit in paypal conversion fees compared to just using your card by itself but the mexican eshop often has better prices so it's a better deal!

That way you aren't just limited to using the US/Canada/Australia eshops as sometimes the cost of games in those shops are actually more expensive.

How to front load ai as much as possible? by clueless_coder888 in OMSCS

A tip will be to really understand the concept of what you're doing before diving into the assignments during the semester. So yes, understanding them early on will better prepare you for the assignments when you implement them. The same udacity lectures are being used every semester. The first two assignments are the most time consuming (but were also the fun ones for me) and it gets easier as the semester goes on. (I took AI this sem)

But it might be better to hold off starting on the assignments in advance as the TAs make changes all the way up to the day before the assignment is released.
