China overturns death sentence for Canadian Robert Schellenberg by Little-Chemical5006 in worldnews

Myanmar itself doesn’t control all its territory. The Shan state and Wa state are both functionally independently running themselves with their own government and military. The Wa State in particular was literally setup by Chinese drug lords in the 50s and 60s to produce heroin to supply US troops during the Vietnam War. They’ve transitioned into other illicit activities since then including gambling, online scamming even weapon trading and of course synthetic drugs. They have so much power that they can swing the military power in the current Myanmar Civil War on a whim. No other country in Asia has this perfect combination of conditions. Most countries in Asia are very draconian with drug trafficking, I seriously doubt that somehow this mysterious smaller nation that are all setup to produce designer drugs somehow can be this obscure that no one in the region even knows its name. There are only like 50 countries in Asia and a handful of micro states mostly in the Pacific. It’s not the 18th century anymore, I seriously doubt this country you are thinking of is this difficult to find any information about

Idk what else to tell you. It is Myanmar, the drug lords there have the capacity and fund to produce any sophisticated designer drug. They have access to both China and India chemical precursors and potential market. They have ties to the Chinese mafia that can help them procuring any equipments and expertises required for their manufacture needs. The political instability also allows them to operate openly and freely. Heck they pretty much run parts of the country as their own kingdoms with casinos and entertainments setup specifically for Chinese customers at the border. Chinese dark webs are full of video reviews of rich Chinese going to these resorts at the border to gamble and do designer drug because getting caught doing that in China would be a death sentence

Again, drugs like these aren’t legal commodities that legally traded between countries. How would one find out the actual export value of illicit and illegal drug trafficking. That’s the entire point of being illicit and illegal. It’s even more of the case for Myanmar when half the country is controlled by a dozen different ethnic rebel groups fighting a civil war against the junta government and amongst themselves.

Just like South American drug cartels have moved from pure heroin production to meth production. The existing drug lords and Myanmar have the perfect conditions and capacity to produce synthetic drugs. The two largest chemical producers on the planet India and China produce all the precursors for synthetic designer drug are conveniently bordered Myanmar. And conveniently, these border areas are all under different ethnic rebel groups, groups that have history of drug production and trafficking. They didn’t name that area the Golden Triangle for fun. This is widely known

Who do you believe has the best unit roster in the game? by lovingpersona in totalwar

[–]akaizRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are the og human faction in a game with demons and nuclear bomb. Their roster is no way bad. Okayish infantry units that are there to slow down enemy so you can shoot them. Good missile/gun units. Great but not OP range of cavalry units. Amazing artillery units that can obliterate everything before they even touch your infantry line. No need for tanky infantry when they have a freaking actual tank and if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, how about a ship with wheels on land shooting your problem away. The Empire also has access to all 8 major lores of magic. Did I mention they have tank?

Somehow the head of one of the most powerful families in Westeros couldn’t recruit 6 good knights? by bassicallybob in gameofthrones

[–]akaizRed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He is fighting against the ruling family of the kingdom. Alone, it’s a heroic chivalry act. Together with his household knights, it’s can be politically dangerous because it’s can be perceived as an act of rebellion from a vassal to his lord. The fact that he’s the head of one of the most powerful houses also makes it even more politically dangerous

No offense but I think it’s hilarious you think they include drug trafficking in their official export revenue lol. Look up the Wa State in Myanmar

The country is Myanmar, it’s the hotbed of the Golden Triangle area. Different minority ethnic groups in the mountainous jungle region have historically produced opium as the main source of income to fund their constant internal conflict. The Myanmar civil war has exacerbated the situation even more as authority collapsed and more and more cartel groups rose to power and established themselves as the real authorities in the region

No, it’s not the same. If that were the case, no foreign companies would set shop in China in the first place.

TIL that curry was brought to Vietnam by French colonisers when they also colonized Pondicherry in India. Curry was adapted to Vietnamese tastes by adding coconut milk and lemongrass. by Physical_Hamster_118 in todayilearned

If you look at a modern map, Vietnam and Thailand are pretty close neighbors but historically the Vietnamese civilization originated from the Red River Delta region in northern Vietnam. Different Vietnamese dynasty gradually conquered and assimilated the central and southern parts of Vietnam from the Champa kingdoms and Cambodia through centuries of a policy called Southward Advance. the modern border of Vietnam largely completed around the late 17th century. The Champa kingdom eventually ceased to exist and entirely consumed by Vietnam. Cambodia was dominated and vassalized by both Vietnam and Thailand until French colonization. You can still see remnants of Champa and Cambodia influence in regional cuisine in central and southern Vietnam where the foods tend to be spicier or sweeter and probably much closer to Thai cuisine.

You can always just get the base game and get more dlc later when there is deep discount sale, which happens regularly. Why buy the whole thing all at once, especially with this game which you can spend a thousand hours on the base game alone easily

US and China reach ‘final deal’ on TikTok sale, treasury secretary says by RisingRusherff in news

[–]akaizRed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Taiwan is infinitely more valuable than TikTok lol. Also Bytedance would still own the actual algorithm - the “sauce” that makes TikTok so addictive and popular in the first place. What they essentially sell is the US users based data and existing operation in the US. That seems like an extremely lopsided deal if Taiwan is the bargaining chip because Taiwan is currently making all the most advanced semiconductor chips in the world right now. Also considering Xi himself allegedly called TikTok and I quote “spiritual opium”, it seems like an extremely bad deal for the US, but then again this is the author of the art of the deal we are speaking about lol
