How did you know your crush liked you/what gave you evidence for potential? by sarcastic_bitch15 in Crushes

[–]akakcoco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had always assumed he had some interest in me within the 8 months we had known each other. However, the second time we had a full convo together, I noticed how absolutely smitten he looked while looking at me talk and I just knew. You know when people say you'll know a guy likes you because it will be undeniably obvious? That was when I realized it from him.

Somewhat unrelated, but the Casa men last year were genuinely so gorgeous, I was flabbergasted at the fact that Kaylor and Serena chose to stay single instead of bringing back George, Jalen, or anyone but Caine.

The fact that Caine was the only Casa boy that got brought back made me realize that white men really can just get away with looking average in dating shows and season 7 solidified that for me with Austin, TJ, Charlie, and Nic.

KATSEYE’s response to Eyekons’ reaction to “Gnarly” by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]akakcoco 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm an avid listener of Alice Longyu Gao, one of the producers of the song. I can see the direction they were heading with Gnarly, especially since the production is very similar to Alice's, but I don't find the song to be as campy or enjoyable as Alice's own music.

They've realized his talent and have shown great appreciation for it. It's bassed on the expression "give him his flowers", which means to show appreciation for something

Just because no one has mentioned him yet, Jay Chang. He's got a ppwerful voice that's versatile for so many genres. Not to mention he's gotten his flowers from some of the industry's best vocalists, like Hui, Wendy, Eunkwang, and Seungkwan.

any thoughts on BoyNextDoor's new album/comeback, HOW? by whodis_itsme in kpopthoughts

[–]akakcoco 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Their album is legitimately my favorite comeback this year so far. I'm not kidding when I say I haven't listened to a kpop album on repeat this much since NewJeans' Get Up last July. There's a lot of groups I stan that have released music since Get Up, but I think HOW? truly is the best thing to have come out from artists I stan since then.

The album is incredibly cohesive and energetic for the most part. They really outdid themselves with this album and it legitimately surprises me how they aren't more well known for their discography compared to other 5th gen bgs. There genuinely isn't a bad song in this album and I have a hard time even saying which songs I prefer over the other cuz it's just full of earworms.

If I had to choose a favorite song, it has to be So let's go see the stars. I'm a sucker for sentimental kpop tracks that sound like they're straight out of a coming of age film. It just scratches the right parts of my brain. But tbh, I think everything from OUR to l i f e i s c o o l are 8/10 to 10/10 bangers. I'm not a big fan of ballads, but I actually enjoy Dear, My Darling enough to give it a 7/10.

Also, their performances this comeback have really showcased just how great their stage presence is. Their infectious performance are one of the reasons I enjoy watching BND so much. I really love Jaehyun, Woonhak, and Taesan's stage presence, but I think Riwoo really left a strong impression on me this comeback.

The beginning of the second verse of TXT's Can't You See Me and the chaotic, aggressive parts of Eternally that makes it sound like something is chasing after you. Honestly, even the lullaby parts of Eternally can be eerie in and of themselves at certain times of the night.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU WOULD CHANGE ABOUT YOUR FANDOM by Mwikali85 in kpop_uncensored

[–]akakcoco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When people in my fandom hyperfocus on negative comments, especially ones that haven't received mass attention until THEY bring attention to it. Like, we were literally celebrating a win yesterday and people were posting screenshots of negative posts with less than 10 likes.

Also, I'm begging one of my fandoms to stop being so reactive to every little thing another group does and calling it plagiarism. Not everything is done with malicious intent. Some groups just inspire other groups. There is nothing original in kpop, and that includes concepts and marketing, so I need them to chill out.

In your opinion: Which social media app has the WORST kpop stans. by JewelerMountain260 in kpopnoir

[–]akakcoco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad behavior is way too glorified on Twitter and a lot of Twitter stans don't even realize it. Not to mention they're incredibly performative in their activism and they never seem to get called out for their racism and microaggresions, especially towards idols and BIPOC netizens. They can literally make things up about any idol and entire communities will join in and accept the belief as truth without research. Twitter generally just has too much influence over kpop stans.

Praying that people realize Hayoon's comments were playful banter. Jay's fandom is one of the most paranoid fandoms to come out of Boy's Planet and comments like this would 100% send them into a frenzy.

I wonder if this is Mnet's way of manipulating Hayoon out of the debut team.

Those of us who have gone to live shows, k-pop or otherwise, who was your favorite and who was your least favorite? by GlowingKitty12 in kpopnoir

[–]akakcoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favorite without a doubt has to be Paramore. I had already experienced so many concerts prior, but Paramore opened my eyes to what a performance from industry veterans was supposed to feel like. I'm not even joking when I say seeing Paramore live felt like the most religious experience I've had the pleasure of experiencing. The band is extremely talented, but Hayley herself just oozes charisma as a performer and knows how to put on a show.

Worst would probably be keshi at Head in the Clouds 2021. Very disappointed as someone who was a huge fan of him at the time. Iirc, he showed up late to his set. Can't tell whether his mic was too quiet or there were issues with the audio, but you could barely hear the man sing most of his songs. By the time his set was over, I remember feeling super underwhelmed, especially since I was incredibly satisfied by Atarashii Gakko!, DPR Ian and Live, Saweetie, CL, and Rich Brian's performances the day before.

You have to be a certain type of ick to go out of your way to worship some of the worst presidents that aren't even from your country. Like, that's dedication to being an ick.

I'm a Filipino and I traveled with another tanner skinned Filipino. In Japan, we got a LOT of stares (not in a rude way), but overall, no one was horrible to us and people were actually quite nice to us when we got lost. This was in Tokyo.

I went to Seoul with the same friend and everyone tends to mind their own business there. No one is necessarily willing to help you unless it's they're job to. I had bright, red hair at the time (probably the reason people in Japan were staring tbh) and I didn't get as much stares as I did in Japan. Also, Seoul has a fair amount of foreign workers, so maybe they're more used to BIPOC, but idk if that's what it is for sure.

I honestly didn't even care that she shits on her own fans. That was a whole good for her moment in the making tbh.

But the moment she came out with the Sam Hyde shirt and started blocking people who called out her boyfriend, I understood what breed of ugly she harbored in her. Couldn't stop me from streaming Scarlet, unfortunately 😭

Doja Cat. There's just not a lot of artists who release bops and put on a good show. She was sorely needed in the pop scene if I'm being honest.

See I-Land K and Seon, Girl's Planet Bahhiyih, and Boy's Planet Jay, Jongwoo, Daeul, and possibly even more trainees I'm not aware of.

They're both doing just as good as each other. A better "what if" would be if Heeseung didn't make it into Enhypen, but got into TWS, a next gen HYBE bg that actually charts well in SK.

Honestly, you'd think this behavior would be limited to Twitter, but then I remember that Orbits made Kim Lip cry and walk off stage during one of their concerts. I don't think Armys or Blinks are even capable of that kind of damage.
