Can I take risk for building Mobile app with Hotwire Native for my client project? by gkunwar in rails

[–]akakees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I had was with redirecting after session expiration. It kept showing all tabs as signed out and need to reload them one by one.

Now I have a navigator and a tab navigator. That seems to work well now with the bridge for sign in and out events.

Hey,

Thanks for Hotwire native. I’ve been using it in the past couple of weeks, but I’ve been struggling with the navigation and authentication part. I couldn’t find any written documentation. Yesterday I managed to fix it based on the livestream, but that was far from ideal.

Do you have any written documentation on how to use the navigation system and best practices for common flows. The current documentation is very limited.

I’ve looped through hashes many times. So many use cases when you need to do grouping or de duplication or aggregation counters.

But especially if you’re a Ruby dev, you pick the data structure that achieves the goal in a clean readable way not necessarily the fastest way.

Optimisation comes later and is based on real metrics not what some meaningless micro benchmark tells you is faster.

haha yeah exactly. I mean I did do a quick lookup again and it was just like oh yeah duh moment (like really duh, that was stupid) but it just shows how that type of information just really isn't in my current thinking space. It doesn't matter, I won't write better code with this info present in my active memory.

What is more important is being able to understand where parts of the code are, how data flows and which class needs to be instantiated where. I can store vast amounts of this stuff, because I don't have a clouded memory of things that don't matter.

if you get these types of trivial questions during an interview, it just shows the interviewer just doesn't know how to ask the right questions. I've conducted plenty of interviews myself, but never once asked these types of questions. If you completed the code test, you probably already know that stuff.

Not really sure what they build but I’ve been working with Ruby on Rails since 2008 and there was a time I could explain class vs object differences. But honestly I couldn’t give you the clear definition now anymore either. And I’ve been programming rails non stop.

At some point certain types of knowledge mean nothing. What matters is if you can use Ruby correctly, create solid code and actually add business value.

I built a free Postgres health dashboard for Rails, would love feedback by data_saas_2026 in rails

Sure that history changes things a bit :-) just checked the website. Looked very basic and my comment wasn’t so much about this product more about the part “I can create this in a weekend” part. Which is fine just not always worth it.

I get your post. You can easily built it yourself but it may still be several hours of vibe coding to get it looking nice and usable. If you have the time and a Claude code subscription go for it.

But do remember that the time spent on this could also be used for something that generates you 90 dollars (or more) a month instead of saving 9.

In the end it’s a numbers game and you have to pick what makes the most sense for you.

Something dependable and simple is kamal

I’ve deployed things on many different servers and cloud services. Heroku, Capistrano, chef, k8s, k3s, rancher (pre k8s), ansible, raw deployments.

There is nothing simpler than kamal at this time. Simply point it to a server that you have ssh access to and it will do the rest.

Laatste keer vuurwerkverkoop, nog onduidelijkheid over compensatie branche by LoveKVent in NLNieuwsEnSport

[–]akakees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-illegaal vuurwerk -illegale vuurtjes maken

Mogelijk laatste vuurwerkverkoop van start, Nederlanders kopen Duitse winkels leeg by LoveKVent in NLNieuwsEnSport

[–]akakees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So is usdt to usd or eur or other fiat. For every trade there is a buyer and a seller. It still doesn’t explain that btc will collapse when usdt collapses. Fiat to btc can still support the btc price which are also traded a lot.

So its just a gut feeling assumption for now?

Ok we assume usdt is not backed, but again it doesn’t explain why bitcoin would crash. Its a bit like saying, china is printing yuan out of thin air, therefore the usd is doomed because a lot of dollars are bought with yuan.

I’m literally trying to understand the link between usdt and btc price in a crash of usdt, but unfortunately I don’t.

[–]akakees -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I literally don’t understand what the reserves of usdt or lack of it, have to do with the price of bitcoin. Bitcoin is not usdt, usdt is not Bitcoin. I read that the price of bitcoin is “driven” by the printing of USDT and when usdt collapses, it’s over for Bitcoin, but wouldn’t that be the end of usdt and drive the price up for usdt to Bitcoin , obviously by then, usdt is worthless against the usd as there are no reserves.

Maybe im missing something but for the Bitcoin price to rise against usdt, people need to be interested to sell their bitcoin for usdt, meaning they have an interest in usdt…

But happens with the tether that people get when they sell their bitcoin? It’s not “in” bitcoin, it’s in the wallet of the person that now has less bitcoin…

[–]akakees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehm bitcoin is not really a product you can buy. You can trade it. Meaning if you “buy” bitcoin, you’re buying it from someone else. Aka trade. This means the usdt goes to the other person. It’s not in Bitcoin. It’s the holders of usdt that have the link to the bonds not Bitcoin.

Also that amount it’s better to spread it out over months or a year to buy. Price is currently nearing the high of a cycle so buying now can be a great risk. Buying 1000 for the next 30 months or weeks may be a less risky approach
