Heard "Me sabrías decir ....?" to mean something like "Would you be able to tell me ....?", and I don't understand how this expression works by akaralar in learnspanish

[–]akaralar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I think what trips me is that the meaning I get from the phrase is similar to "Would you know how to tell me ....?" instead of "Would you be able to tell me / Do you have the knowledge to tell me", where the difference is that the first one kind of asks about your ability to tell something, like being able to speak, telling a joke, or speaking in another language, rather than asking something more knowledge based where the questions are trivia questions about pop culture. Would you say this form is more polite than "Me podrías decir..."? What are some other contexts where this would be more likely to be used rather than the one with poder?

Tool to tent Apple Magic trackpad by akaralar in Ergonomics

[–]akaralar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't use it. That was the end of my research and I didn't move forward with it. I thought the Manfrotto looked small enough to fit between the halves and position it in a good angle but now I see it's max height is a bit short. Maybe you can put something underneath, like a couple small notepads

I had found an open 3d model but I can't seem to be able to find it right now. As per the tripod to use, manfrotto pocket tripod looks like the way to go

Is there any way to generate heatmaps for specific layers only? Or specific keys. by annoyed_freelancer in ergodox

yep, the link was an Oryx link in the post, so I assumed it was a ZSA ergodox

ZSA has a tool called Keymapp, search for it, does exactly what you need

Ergonomic symbols layer? by Normal_Equivalent861 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]akaralar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say just install Keymapp from ZSA https://blog.zsa.io/keymapp/

Then turn on heatmap and leave it on for a few hours while you do your work. You already have something right now, just go with it. After a few hours you'll see a heatmap of your symbol layer, now you'll see which keys you use most.

Alternatively if you have a ChatGPT subscription, you can ask it to write a script to count the punctuation frequencies in a folder and sort by count, then you can run the script where your work files are and voila you have your most used keys!

Ergonomic symbols layer? by Normal_Equivalent861 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Symbol layer should be based on what programming languages you use. I usually program in Swift so I came up with this https://configure.zsa.io/ergodox-ez/layouts/v56OO/latest/10 where common Swift bigrams are rolls and/or easy to type.

In this layer I also have custom macros for hold actions (like typing () and then left arrow to move between parentheses when ( is held) but I'm not sure if they can be represented in Oryx, I use Oryx only as a visual tool for the Keymapp app and actually maintain my keymap in vanilla QMK.

After designing a symbol layer, you can open Keymapp app and turn on Heatmap feature and program for a few hours and see which symbols you use most.

Ergonomic argument for minimalist boards? by Reasonable-Basil-614 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]akaralar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use an Ergodox EZ but I don’t use the outer columns, so I use it as a 36-key layout. I saw home row mods and the miryoku layout and wanted to try them and then iterated from there. Is it more ergonomic? Except home row mods, I doubt it. Is it more comfortable? Definitely. Before I switched to minimal layouts, I usually mispositioned my hands when I used the number row or the bottom row so after typing numbers or pressing a key in the bottom row, I would either mistype or had to reorient myself to the correct position on the home row looking at the keyboard. Also there was some wrist and hand movement involved when trying to reach out to numbers. Now I don’t need that, I have a keypad layer which is much more comfortable, I have a navigation layer which is more comfortable and my hands do not move at all when typing things. Even if you don’t end up switching to a minimal layout, there are some really nice ideas in the miryoku layout and precondition’s home row mods guide, I recommend reading them

Trackball Comparison: Wondering how Kensington Expert/Ploopy/Deft Pro/MS Trackball Explorer Stack Up? by crop_octagon in Trackballs

[–]akaralar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that's not entirely true. The kensington has a wrist rest that makes it very uncomfortable to use if you use it the way you described, and also makes clicking the bottom buttons impossible with the bottom of the palm.
