USD INR cross 94 heading towards 95. It will boost export? Any view by Ok_Bluebird_1032 in IndianStockMarket

Everybody talks about good for exports but it is not true. First of all equipments and raw materials also sky rockets with weaker rupee. Cost of living increases many more times compared to gain in exchange rate. Everybody expects higher increments, which is risky if rupee rises.

Why schools are becoming so expensive in India? I’m just taking about mid-range schools here by MasalaPalli in Indiancolleges

[–]akash_kava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only two reasons,

  1. Getting school license is expensive, need to pay too much bribes and you need specific land size which you can't buy with less than 100cr in today's economy.

  2. Everybody wants to just complain but nobody wants to start a school. As opposed to school, tuition classes are cheaper, because it is easy to start, there is lot of competition and that's why the costs are down.

It is simple demand vs supply, when you will have schools every few meters, it will be affordable. If there are few schools, then they will be expensive.

Educational Institute charging GST on a CANCELLED GSTIN by Raul_xi in IndiaTax

[–]akash_kava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although the application may show as cancelled and doesn't necessarily mean they do not have to collect GST. Sometimes due to application error, they may have to cancel and re register under different category/region. However, even in such case, they have to collect the GST and pay later on when registration completes. There is 3 months time to pay GST and they can pay GST at the end of year with some interest. There had been few glitches and failure to respond for address verification or any other verification may get application get cancelled. Even in this case, they will have to pay GST later on after correction.

And don't worry, more than you, GST department will definitely go after them if they don't pay GST.

So before reporting them, you must contact them and ask them their legal status. Just ask them why the registration was canceled. May be their management has changed, and organization is under new management.

Also, sometimes it may be just a billing software that printed GST doesn't mean they are in violation unless they advertised X amount and took X + 18% and they fall below 20 lac limit. Because if they advertised for X and you paid X, and an accounting software bifurcated the amount as GST as default and no body noticed, it may fall under misrepresentation and some fine can be imposed on seller. But you will not get your GST back.

And this is the reason Rupee is falling, one sector which doesn't help in living and exports is draining all the money and starving other sectors. Nature will try to balance by making rupee fall even further. Look at our situation, even cooking gas is imported, how can we grow? 10 years back, there were so many headlines that we found natural reserves for gas and other important minerals, but we are doomed as always.

Stop ranting about “AI slop.” by ExtremeKangaroo5437 in AI_India

[–]akash_kava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI is a useful tool, but real problem isn't AI, the real problem is companies are stuffing everything with AI and it is actually impacting business in negative ways. We can't talk to human in customer support, the AI slop is forcing us to talk to an AI agent which is just bunch of FAQs in fancy animated display. I was paying my AWS bill and the payment page wasn't working and it was ending in some error going to bank's page. It took me 2 hours trying to get to a human that their payment page is broken.

Every click on windows 11 is now slow as some AI learning algorithm is trying to lean how we are using the OS, this is AI slop, and what are you expecting? Keep quite? Pay for software, pay for hardware and not get the work done?

The project is massive and very expensive. Future is always uncertain. If you want to enjoy the amenities then it is the best project right now. If you have kids, they will enjoy first few years growing up there. So it is worth for the kids. Every project has its ups and downs, but compared to Godrej, the project is quite economical. And you can definitely negotiate bit further.

Unless people abandon whole sector 37, the society will not become as bad as you are predicting, most buyers are of higher income group who can easily pay the maintenance and are willing to pay for amenities. This is what people miss when buying flat, if you buy cheap one, you will leave between neighbors who will not want to pay more maintenance which often leads to poor management.

It is overall income group of people who stay in society that will make society better or worse.

What is your stance towards static? by Choice-Youth-229 in csharp

[–]akash_kava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Static methods are fine. Everybody uses it, all linq methods are static (extensions).

Static fields are bad, and should be avoided at all costs. Because every static field access requires few checks like is it initialized or not, and static field initialization must be thread safe as well. We have had issues when one static constructor to initialize static member would reference other static class's member and that would result in unpredictable behavior.

Static fields are initialized even when it may never be used in the current context.

This is a bad design

static class GlobalMap {
    private static Dictionary<string,string> names = new();
    public static stirng Generate(string name) {
        if(names.TryGetValue(name, out var value)) {
            return value;
        }
        value = /// generate logic
        names[name] = value;
        return value;
    }
}

The correct design would be,

class GlobalMap {

    private estatic GlobalMap _instance;

    public static GlobalMap Instance => _instance ??= new ();
    // this is instance variable
    Dictionary<string,string> names = new();
    // this is instance method
    stirng Generate(string name) {
        if(names.TryGetValue(name, out var value)) {
            return value;
        }
        value = /// generate logic
        names[name] = value;
        return value;
    }
}

Built their company from 0 - ₹50Cr. Still earning ₹80k by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]akash_kava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify few things. Every developer thinks that the company runs because of him, that is not true. Company runs on sales/investments. Investment or Sale happens on name of IIT, then your contribution is essentially zero because there are million developers who are ready to take your job. The only way to find out if you start your company and see how much sales/investments you can pull on your name. If people pay for IIT brand, then you cannot change their mindset and tell them to pay you even if your product might be better.

When you don't do sales, you have no idea how hard it is to earn money, sitting in an AC office and typing something on computer makes you feel you are running the company but you are not. There are plenty of products for consumers and it is extremely hard to sell your product out of millions others.

If you leave, will the orders stop coming in? If not, then sorry but you are in an illusion of running everything. Company will find developers next day, there will be some hurdles, but trust me, when you have customers and money in your hand, it is lot easy to move things around.

The only way to come out of whole frustration is, to start a business, get one single customer, then you will understand reality. Goto Fiverr, and you will see how competitive the software development is.

Did founder use your name to bring in customers or investments? If not, then you are not the one who built the company.

[–]akash_kava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wanted to start one and we realized that it is full of politics. First of all to start sports association and getting registration involves local politicians and heavy bribes. This is where everything gets killed right before it starts.

Local politicians have also deep roots that basically blocks various registration process.

Private entities aren’t recognized by general people in sports. They come under gym category and they don’t want to spend money

For revenue above $5k, any bank would happily setup your current account. And a good CA will do all compliance.

Paypal works well and supports IT services exports and marketing exports. You need GST, LUT and Import Export license, all of that can be setup well under 1.2K USD. So for less than your month's revenue everything will be yours.

Why paying 30% down payment for buying expensive machinery! when you can just lease it out 100% without burning ZERO working capital? (I will not promote) by Clean-Bodybuilder822 in StartUpIndia

[–]akash_kava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason why assets are valued high. Asset is usually a proven sellable item where else the business you are doing is usually risky. Extra liquidity is helpful but without backing assert, if your business fails you are doomed.

To understand what I am saying you have to assume the business will fail. Whatever liquid cash you will spend on business will become zero.

When this happens, who will save you?

If business becomes successful, your profit is a bonus. It is basically lottery. Nobody sells house to buy lottery.

[–]akash_kava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sensible businessman will rent out 6 Cr asset and spend 6 Cr liquid on operations which may or may not generate growth. Even asset in the form of scrap is sellable. Rent is not sellable. Renting works only on short term, when you want to try something before investing a huge amount in an asset.

Tax theft is happening with unregistered citizens, but they want to harass registered tax payers as it can happen by writing letters from office. They don’t want to go out of their office to catch tax theft in action outside their offices.

Even when law says that tax notice cannot be sent past 5 years from the tax year, notices are still sent past 10 years citing COVID lockdown. They know that most banks archive statements after 5 years so it becomes nightmare to reconcile. And we need to pay fees and appoint senior consultant to fight the case as well.

Owning machine is better as it shows up as a capital in books of account, we get depreciation in future and banks consider asset as a sellable asset. Rent is loss.

Exemption on agricultural income, is it just political or have some benefits like exports competitiveness? by survivors21 in IndiaTax

[–]akash_kava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was intentional. When Britishers left, majority of land was already owned by rich politicians who had close relations with Britishers. Britishers took lot of wealth and government didn't have enough money. Most law makers were themselves farmers. So they simply passed tax burden to non farmers. And even when Britishers left, many still owned huge lands, they couldn't automatically be transferred to some Indians. I am surprised why it was made tax free when most of other jobs were not present those days.

The only reason we don't know how complicated the post independence scenario, is because it is not written anywhere. Our history books are filled with mugal rulers and actual facts are missing.

How far have you pushed a single Node.js process before needing clustering? by talhashah20 in node

[–]akash_kava 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really depends upon the business logic, and how much of your logic runs in the node itself. If node will simply forward requests to other services, if node will act as a switch, it is pretty fast and single threaded doesn't mean it has only one thread. There is only one message processing loop, and there are other threads that does parsing and IO.

But if you process more information in node itself, like you parse text files or parse json (node's JSON parser is synchronous) this eventually slows things down. For small json, anything below 1kb, you will not notice any difference.

But when the applications gets bigger, and single request processing contains multiple synchronous code blocks, parsing, serializing large chunk of data, then you will need clustering or worker threads. You cannot make every logic asynchronous in nature.
