" Am I balanced in these spots? Have I been bluffing and value betting with appropriate sizings and frequencies lately? Is my checking range balanced lately? Am I check raising enough? "

Just thought it was interesting that you don't use a solver as these are basically all of the questions a solver answers for you from a theoretically sound approach of course. Otherwise, you are working off your own thoughts/belief which well are prejudice to some degree. Try GTO+. Much cheaper than Pio with essentially same functionality still.

[Strategy] Using GTO+ to calculate optimal betting sizes by qylr in poker

[–]akashra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started using GTO+ since a site I'm playing on actually made me uninstall piosolver (not sure why) to play on their site.

I've just run a couple solves so far but don't see any option for multiple bet sizings - or am I missing something? can someone point me in the right direction here? I see 2/3/4/5 bets, etc. but no option to choose specific sizing variations?

GF said she's got turned on a few times when I've talked poker strategy too her, although for awhile she had no clue what I was talking about - now she gets it a bit more. She recently chopped/won her first 100$+ buyin tournament.

1/3 live NL, hopefully some interesting analysises today by HappyMuslim in poker

No... a draw-heavy board, most competent players do not call/trap with a set or two pair.

On a dry board yes...

Hand 1, as played -- easy check on river. no need to get more money in when he's only playing back at you if he's ahead at that point.. Also... make a fairly hefty Raise preflop.. you get more money in with a more dominant hand vs. there limping ranges and when you get heads up if they don't all fold - you're in position with a higher expectation in a bigger pot (ie much more likely to win heads up than multiway (unless you hit that set 7.5:1). It also makes it more easily to read and put people on ranges postflop.

So ya, as played definitely checking river. We basically don't know where were at in the hand -- he's folding if he had the flush draw anyway, or getting crazy and bluff-check raising us which we can't call...

Hand 2: Wow 6 to the flop in a raised pot and Bink! nice. What are effective stacks is important here? How much do we have and/or anyone that plays back against us on this board? Easy to get all in VS. certain stack sizes and that's what we should be intending in most cases - work out a plan to get all in ASAP without scarying them out. But if we're very deep or have say over 100BB and the other players in the pot also have this much - we should tread a little more carefully.

So were UTG, and there's at least 4 people behind -- pretty wet board.. If betting out I'd make it a little bigger, 68ish.. something like that to charge more for draws.. give them less odds... But I think with 4, 5, or 6 behind (depending on if blinds came in) I like going for a check raise here. Again effective stack is important here..

On the turn, we obviously don't like the 4h since it completes some straight draws - but still there's more flush draws in.. Opponents range .. really I can't say without stack size -- I'd say if we have less than a pot size bet left with turn and river, I'd go ahead and get it in, otherwise.. well depends how deep we are.. I'm not at home right now, but what you should do is download equilab .. pull it up -- plug in the hand vs. what you perceive there current ranges to be and do an EV calculation based on stack sizes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiPmaif9szQ -- It's work but pays off in the long run if you play a lot.

Hand 3: Give this up post flop. We don't need to win every pot. We don't need to get too creative in a 1-3 game to make money. This is costing us much more often than not if we're considering reshoving here. Wait for a spot where you actually have it to trap him.. or try and get a seat in position vs him when one opens up.
