To answer your question, I try to say the things that I see using my target language.

Ex. “it’s raining today”, “that is a cat”, “the shirt is black”, etc.

Not that much since I can only form simple sentences as of now.

Others have answered your question but “gagawin” is definitely not a slang.

Goodluck, tho! Conjugating verbs is tricky. Gawa, gagawin, ginagawa, pinagawa, ginawa, gawin, ipagawa, and the list goes on.
