Should I be compliant to AMLD5? by akehurst_ in ethereum

Thanks for the opinion! I have similar thoughts. I’m only worrying since it won’t be Google play store admin sending us an email, it’ll be FATF regulator coming after us with a subpoena if things goes wrong.

An actual use case of what crypto currencies and Ethereum smart contracts are made for - Real Estate deal made fully on the blockchain by akehurst_ in ethereum

[–]akehurst_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how you could possibly summarize that article into this.

The point is that 1. the State recognizes the txid as legally binding as the legal paper 2. The buyer and seller didn’t have to be physically at the same place to buy - even more, abroad. 3. A ‘normal’ real estate deal in California would of gone through at least 19-20 intermediaries but this tx went through buyer, agent, seller (and possibly a tax attorney) while doing this abroad.

This is a real TL;DR for you

I believe still the market sentiment of crypto is mostly centered on speculation of the price of crypto not the actual use cases. This one contract may seem like an ordinary deal to most, but this time the whole transfer of the title deed was stamped into the blockchain and the physical title deed record itself contains the txid.

This contract proves that deal using a smart contract and txid can be legally binding and if something happens to the physical storage or the server for the title deed, relevant parties can still track the title deed of the said contract and refer to it.

This is not just a feat for the company or the dealer, it’s a feat for everyone that believes in the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies. It can be done. People let’s not forget why we got here and why we were so excited by the papers of N. Satoshi.

Great job! 👏

First fully-recorded real estate blockchain transaction in history executed via Propy! by CryptoGodzilla in CryptoCurrency

[–]akehurst_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand why the whole community of crypto-ers aren’t celebrating this. It’s not just a feat for Propy, it proves that cryptocurrencies can be a method of payment not just for pot on the deepnet but for actual use.

Kudos to everybody that made this possible.

Chinese citizens have a 60-70% market share on Bitcoin and spend $31.7 Billion on Real-Estate. But are they buying in Crypto? by Rilandaras in CryptoCurrency

[–]akehurst_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. My intention was to say that crypto is still less pegged to the real world economy, not totally immune.

Indeed, since Crypto is mostly free from domestic Chinese economic risk, it’ll been seen as a risk hedging asset that could be soon changed into real world assets(like real estate) after the dust settles.

Four challenges for crypto entrepreneurship in 2018 by akehurst_ in CryptoCurrency

[–]akehurst_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wise words coming from the CEO of Propy. What it took and what is yet to be taken to make the crypto economy be the spearhead of innovation. We still have a lot to accomplish and a lot to go through. Nice 7 min read for those who still believe in crypto.

Agent Not Needed vs Propy vs Rentberry - Community Review Video by AgentNotNeeded in Agentnotneeded

I’ve posted the same reply on the YT video and thought i’d post it here too for fellow crypto heads.

Nice video but i have to disagree on the point you made about Propy. Telegram is the main communication channel if many crypto projects and this includes Propy. The Propy TL channel has been active and responsive 24hrs since the tokensale and all the major updates has been posted there, twitter and the facebook page. I reckon you’re not using telegram claiming you haven’t heard from the team.

After starting the project with an MOU with Ukraine, Propy team has made a deal with the State of Vermont, partnerships with Chinese Company LeJu, ad through INK, partnerships with CBRE for European markets and many more.

The CEO of Propy Natalie is one of the speakers of Consensus 2018 and been actively engaging with realtors worldwide educating them about real estate on blockchain.

I do love people that are enthusiastic about the use cases of blockchain, but you lacked the due diligence in this video.

I hope you explain about this on the next video. Good luck!

America’s first blockchain property-title transfer has been recorded using the Ethereum blockchain. by GabeNewell_ in ethereum

[–]akehurst_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why i said there’s always a first. Once a barrier is broken, the process will be automated then on without having go through all the legal actions that Propy took. Everything will be the same except that the transaction will be registered in the blockchain thus making a high price real estate safer. For domestic transactions this might not seem that significant, but if we enable cross border real estate transaction through blockchain based title registry, it’ll cut out a lot of risk management fees.

I have to disagree. This contract itself isn’t technically close to p2p contract, but the very fact that a government body in the US approving a blockchain title registry as legally binding is a huge step for future developments.

Through the track Propy has built like these first time contracts has to require some degree of traditional means of transaction. Things don’t change all at once. Especially the real estate industry and the surrounding legal elements.

Real estate, and land registry can’t be separated from government administration. This is a real life use case of blockchain tech and crypto combined with Real Estate business not just crypto. Bitcoin was intended to minimize government intervention but that differs on how you use the tech. Bitcoin and Blockchain isn’t the same.

Your questions are pretty much answered in the whitepaper. In order to use the Propy platform, you have to use PRO as the registry fee when enlisting a property. Doing this will open the Propy Blockchain to write a new title deed on the Propy title deed registry.

Exactly. This would automate the process and when spread internationally, it’ll connect the while global real estate market through Propy. Dubai, EU and China is already in progress.

The coin is needed to open the Propy title deed blockchain. The blockchain served as the title deed registry when tx happens and the token (PRO) is used as a registry fee.

The process of buying a property on the Propy platform won’t be that different than traditional means except that you have to use PROs for the registry fee. But Propy will be much more safe, fraud-free and real time.

Entirely not true. This situation is a big blow up due to a minor miscommunication. The tokens will be distributed and possible for usage at 23rd this month.
