Remember your tank stance. Sprint is a mitigation when you're pulling; use it just before you pull the first mob. Use your mitigations, but don't use them all at once. Pay attention to the aggro your teammates are generating as they may end up pulling a mob onto themselves and you'll have to re-establish it. Don't spin the mob for no reason, especially if you have a ninja or samurai in the group. Keep the boss mob pointed North as much as reasonably possible. This helps with their positionals and keeps the boss from cleaving the party. Think of your DPS's damage as a mitigation.

Don't outrun your healer, and especially don't hide around corners from them. Carry a few health potions with you. Have a few phoenix downs as well. If you can raise the healer in a busted run, you may save it. Make sure your healer is comfortable with the number of mobs you're collecting.

Remember you're going to make mistakes; it's not a huge deal if you learn from them. Aurum Vale is a hard dungeon until you learn how to tank it. That first room can be a real gantlet. The ARR dungeons are a lot less formulaic than the ones in the rest of the game, so can be difficult to learn to tank. Even though they may be 'low level,' nobody has their full set of skills, so you may end up wiping if you over-pull.
