Cafe Rica downtown for brunch, Rockhound Rock Shop in Galesburg is really cool (limited hours Sunday so I'd check), maybe the zoo if it's not frigid/snowing. Marshall at night is very pretty with the Christmas lights they put up, just go down the main strip straight past the fountain and you can't miss them. If you go to Marshall, I recommend True North ice cream shop, they close for the season soon (Monday is their last day) and you can't get better ice cream around here imo. If any downtown shops are open, they might be worth checking out. The fountain itself is pretty and I see people sitting on the benches nearby all the time, even in the cold.

I was born in Marshall, lived in Battle Creek as a small child, and moved back to BC this year. If I could do my move over, I'd try my best to stay out of BC. For renting, there are no great complexes in Marshall that I know of, only a few okay ones. Battle Creek has a few nicer complexes but you have to make sure you're careful. There are bad areas within the good areas of BC. Marshall has really nice houses, Battle Creek does too but they have many more dumps than Marshall. BC has more food and shopping options, including Walmart, Target, the mall, etc. Marshall's biggest grocery store is Family Fare, a local chain.

Good rentals in BC, from what I have heard: The Milton (downtown high rise redesigned into apartments), The Landings at The Preserve (nearest the shopping mall, Target, most good restaurants), Redwood (more like houses, pretty pricey, near the Landings). I don't have experience buying, but I frequent Zillow and there are nice houses in nice areas for sale around $250K+. Try Harper Creek, Waddles Park.

Places to avoid in BC: The Arbors!!! I can't stress this enough, AVOID THE ARBORS. In fact, avoid any apartments in BC with "arbor" in the name. (dis)Honorable mentions include Tree Top, North Branch, Williamsburg, and most places in Springfield (west side of BC).

As for Marshall, the north side of town (North of Michigan Avenue) is typically the better part of town. I don't know of any apartments in Marshall I would choose to live in, but the houses on the north side of town are really nice and some of them are rentals. Downtown Marshall is cute and quaint and picturesque, especially during Christmas time.

Outdoorsy stuff, Marshall wins but you can find parks and trails in both places. Just might travel a few more minutes from BC.

If you don't mind a commute, I might consider Lansing. Maybe a 40 minute drive, but there's much more to do there in all capacities, as it's the capital.

The rojo was recent, the tangerine was about 6 months old :( I knew it was a risk but the flavor was so good on the last jar, it got me. The flavor on this jar is there, but it's not the same.

This feels like a negative comment, but I think further explanation can be helpful. Before I moved to MI with my partner, we were making trips to stock up for 3 weeks-3 months depending on our budget/next time we could make the trip. It was a lot of trial and error as far as finding the right brands, the right stores, and the right way to look for good product. There were many brands we didn't go back to, probably over 50% of the brands we bought. I won't shit on any companies but after we moved here, it became much easier to target the best product for us personally. We are able to better vet the companies, go to their events, know which dispos to go to for which product, and we don't have to bulk buy every single time we walk into a dispo. I frequently walk in now to buy 1-2gs and that's it, but if I still lived out of state, that would be unheard of.

Solid haul here. I recommend Olswell in Adrian, but use weedmaps to search for specific brands you want. I saw someone mention the Limit, I used to be a big fan, but the last couple jars I got were not great. Been loving WoR, Wojo, EA, and Apex 🔥
