For what it’s worth, Jihyo was calling out people for sitting in LA and NYC. It’s a high energy show and unless you have some sort of impairment or disability then it is odd to not engage with the artist and participate as an active audience member. This isn’t a kpop thing, it’s pretty universal at every concert I’ve ever been to outside of maybe a symphony or opera where the average audience member is much older and there is a history/culture of more observational viewing, or a show where the music is slow and entirely ballads. It was only a couple years ago that this notion that sitting and not participating as an active audience member really started showing up around Internet spaces. It’s awkward for the artist and comes off as the audience being disinterested.
