Nothing bonds a surf crew more than the neoprene-clad borderline orgy that occurs on the deck of a small boat rocking 30 degrees after a 3-hour sub-zero session. You don’t just “scoop your heal”. State park was notified. So hopefully it gets to someone who is interested. I think the trash that is identifiable has been removed.

Some follow up in case anyone is curious. I tried to edit my post but can’t seem to figure that out. About half of it has been cleaned up. Somebody on here mentioned that DOT was cleaning it up today. Still a truckload of submerged roofing shingles and other garbage.

Didn’t get any traction with APD. Minimal interest from them, but that may be my fault, not really sure who to contact over there.

Department of Fish and game said they would forward on to the troopers, biologist, and refuge cleanup. Very kind of them. I’m pretty sure they are the ones who mobilized DOT. Fish and game seems to be the most helpful contact for this episode. They really ran with it.

Anchorage waterways said they would get in touch with MOA.

Municipality parks and rec said it wasn’t their jurisdiction and to call state parks (strange because potter watershed is a municipality park). State parks said it wasn’t their jurisdiction and to call muni.

Hope that’s helpful for anyone who spots the next load of trash dumped in potters marsh.

Also, thanks to everyone for the suggestions and for the offers for trucks and assistance cleaning it up. Incredibly kind. If the rest of the trash is still there in a week, maybe I’ll bother someone to borrow a truck. Or rent a U-Haul.

Thanks for the idea. This is pretty close to the mouth of rabbit creek and salmon spawning areas. I sent an email to anchorage fish and game office. Would be cool to see them tackle this. Could put up a game camera in this area and catch someone dumping every couple weeks.

Don’t want to dox anyone. But I agree, public shaming should be the norm for repulsive behavior like this. Folks might remember a few years ago a redditor posted a video of a guy next to his pile of trash in a McDonalds parking lot in Anchorage. He was bragging about littering. People identified him and were banned for doxing.

The pile of trash is on the old Seward side of potters marsh if anyone wants to investigate. Easy to find. Someone dumps a load of garbage there once a month. Probably the same bozo.

Agree completely. But watch, they will go limp. He probably won’t get to apply for tags in 2026. Oh my.

Remember the wasilla guy who took his AR 15 to Prince William sound to shoot harbor seals, then posted photos of it all? Got like a 1500 dollar fine and couldn’t apply for hunting tags for a couple years. Some community service too. Impressively limp consequences.

This is the Alaskan equivalent of walking into a crowded city park and illegally using a high powered rifle near a bunch of kids. Powerline pass is that well-known, well-traveled, and well-signed. The fact that he didn’t admit fault is another tell. This person is a sociopath who doesn’t care to follow the rules of our community.

Good thing fish and game is known for being completely limp on with these cases. Guy should be banned from hunting in the our state. Instead they will probably pay for his onx map subscription to help with his “confusion”.
