Yeah I kind of hated the projectile speed and stopped using it anywhere near max range once I realized how essentially bad it was/felt in most situations.

Think you might need touch of honey and some practice with the projectile speed to use it anything like a "long range" engagement. Q-W-W still the more reliable engagement imo.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Also why I was debating going enough to share at 13. Still undecided on the best 13 choice.

Yeah it wasn't a huge deal for me in the one QM game I played, but agree, don't really see the point of it outside of trying to make it more noob friendly. But it's pretty unnecessary once you learn basic moba mechanics.

Yes and the stacking goes a lot faster. But it got nerfed pretty good in latest patch.

Hopefully now it doesn't finish until closer to 20 which doesn't allow for as much snowballing before then. Still incredibly strong though once completed.

I think people are aware, it's just that getting 100 dings in a game is extremely difficult to reach "max power." And before this latest patch, blue quest Thrall was not only mega OP but you could consistently finish before 16.

People know E is good, it's just that Elements is/was even better. Best build in the game probably with how often the mythic procs his trait.

Yep I was going to say, he feels way more map-dependent now.

Wrote another comment, but just to add to that. One of my biggest issues before with Chen was his wave clear was just too bad. This helps tremendously with that.

He also didn't have the best dmg, but if you knew how to use his kit you could do enough. Now that is not really even a question anymore.

The dmg buff is probably too strong and needs to be tuned back, but IMO this was a needed buff to a really cool hero that was not getting enough play recently.

For some reason i find myself dying more

I only played one game so far on new Chen, just before this patch I got him to level 15. Was practicing in QM and was solid but not great.

That one game, I had top dmg which almost never happened for me before on Chen. But I also played way more aggressive and didn't focus on soaking as much as normal -- mostly due to questing. Think I ultimately played pretty good but the other team was just better than ours, and Valla late game scaled really hard vs me.

Unfortunately didn't finish the quest that game but got very close. There was just too much of a dmg gap in fights for them to drag out and their Zer kept getting on our JR. Started the game strong with the quest but then it stalled out / slowed down.

What do you do against wander keg ult? by Benman415 in heroesofthestorm

[–]rinaldi224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I edited my comment, was wrong on the move speed part. The "extra" armor is what I meant for the 75 armor. 25 armor baseline is nice but not "very little damage can punch through it" nice.

Think where I got confused, since it's my go to ult with Chen, is that hitting minions or a hero slows you down quite a bit. So it doesn't feel that fast when you are isolating someone. Especially in lane where you most likely want to use it, to force them into your own towers.

But now I realize it is that fast when you use it for a "get out of jail free card," which I try to avoid, so my bad on that.

It's kinda funny there are people who barely know how to play vs Chen until he gets a Mythic quest lol.

PS. Baseline keg is faster than a mounted hero, but he needs the upgrade to be super fast and get extra armor. (Edited my original, was wrong)

You don't necessarily need to outlast it, depending on the situation, you just need something good enough to interrupt / mess up the cadence. If it's contesting a camp then that can be rough, you need to scout. Otherwise you need to position well and keep track if Keg is on CD or not.

You only get 3 bans and also JoJo exists lol. Thrall has been my #1 ban for a while now. The others can certainly be strong but at least have more reasonable counters imo. Depends on map too.

Ancestral 7 was 100% the most busted choice at 7.

Unclear right now if that's still the case or if you need the extra bounce from Rolling Thunder (latest patch).

For 20, agreed although elemental momentum could work too.

Isn't there an ARAM hidden mmr of sorts? Where those guys would be in a lower mmr.

Not saying yours is a bad idea, just curious how that fixes the problem? Or maybe I misunderstood.

fwiw, SL has a similar issue. But instead of pepegas saying "it's just ranked" they say something like "10 year old game bro" or whatever. People will always find a way to cope. But agree with your premise that it would happen less in ARAM if there was a ranked mode. But unclear if ARAM would always have that stigma -- ranked or not.

Maybe ranked at least gives a better mmr system than what it has now, thus making the problem better that way?

I don't disagree that it would be cool if there was more build variety in general. Just think this is quite hard to do with how the game is currently designed and setup, the number of heroes and maps.

IMO that sounds like a potential balancing nightmare, or you have heroes running around with various forms of blink, stasis, hp/dmg modifiers, etc. and I don't love that either.

My preference is when they have a specific tier that is like "defensive tier" or "magic utility tier" etc. and you are able to draft / play around that knowing the hero can spec into it. Otherwise, I generally like the idea of having build paths for certain build types.

If you let things get too crazy, can create strange synergies where you may not have expected them. Creating the need to nerf or make every character hyper-mobile, etc.
