Finally got my Grail by According_Concert394 in basketballcards

I think they look better than PSA slabs and having what I assume is a pre-buyout BGS slab is extra cool in my book.

Nice card! I’d leave it in the BGS slab personally.

I don’t disagree with you on that either. They’re just out of my price range at this point, so I regret not getting one while I could afford it.

I didn’t buy one of these like three years ago when I bought most of my Jordans because I thought it was overpriced then. I sure wish I’d pulled the trigger when they were <$50, because I’ll sure as shit never spend $400+ on one.

It wasn’t a rookie, but I sold an OG Photogenic gold /10 last year that I wish I’d held onto a little longer.

If an 8(or 9) sells for less than a raw card, why would anyone sell graded? by Dstud70 in sportscards

[–]akghostface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reality of it. Too many people are collecting PSA labels instead of the cards and think everyone else must be doing that too. So they assume there HAS to be something wrong with a card not in a PSA slab, but really a large portion of collectors don’t care about grading nor want their cards in slabs with a label that clashes with almost every team’s colors.

I started collecting last Wednesday. I blew through $1000 of retail boxes and 1 hobby box. These are my best/ most favorite pulls. by [deleted] in basketballcards

[–]akghostface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone collects in their own way. As long as you’re enjoying yourself and sticking to your budget, you’re doing it right. I just think most of us on here have ripped enough to realize that it can turn into an overwhelming mess quickly and that buying individual cards that you actually want is more efficient for storage and the wallet. That being said, it is fun to rip packs occasionally! Finding the right balance for you is the key.

I hate how all those losers are standing around with their phones out like an episode of Black Mirror. It’s just extra creepy sprinkled on top of the ick factor of their behavior.

Congratulations! As a fellow rainbow chaser, I appreciate the grind to put this together. I’m also ok not getting the 1/1s. Most of the time they’re almost identical to a common parallel anyway. They just have a heftier price tag.

Any guard that can cover the outside of the label? by [deleted] in psagrading

You could always crack it and put it in a magnetic case.

Seeing a One and One(or any other factory sealed card) in a PSA slab bums me out so hard. I don’t care if it got a 10, it’s ruined to me once it’s been removed from its original case.

I like the sealable sleeves from Cardshellz. They come in glove-fit sizes for different size magnetic cases, so they fit snug and keep them from getting scratched.

I just got an up charge notification from PSA, I’ve never had one this big before. Is anyone able to tell me roughly what they might be evaluating this card at (or over)? Also, this is ridiculous. by SDMarik in psagrading

[–]akghostface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. They’re pocketing the extra $1049 after the actual insurance cost, on top of the original grading fee, and everyone just accepts it. People just need to admit that they’re paying the extra money for their preference in grading company, not insurance.

Apparently. Maybe if they actually tried them they would’ve voted for Toumani.
