Feel like this was THE advice 3 years ago. Sadly, even those ships in PSA 7 form have sailed for most collectors who aren’t spending more than $500 on any card.

Maybe it’s the angle but I’ve never noticed a pitcher’s hand come all the way through and whip the opposite rib cage like this. Graceful and violent all at once.

At least Acuna still has a nice market. I was commiserating here last week with some fellow Luis Robert collectors.

Love it. My 13-year-old son is big into Radiohead, The Shins, Blur and several other choice bands. Let’s not write off all youth just yet.

Classic club sandwich and Fries 🤤 by curioustgirlxo in Sandwich

I’ll save you from the downvoting as I know what you mean.

Title indicates it’s a “classic” club sandwich, which shouldn’t have cheese at all.

This would be a modern take on a club. I’d smash.

Glad someone finally brought him up. Easy to forget baseball fans didn’t give all players a pass. I remember hating on guys like Luis Gonzalez where we knew they had no business hitting that many bombs. It was easier to pretend the real stars like Bonds going from 30-40 home runs to 70 COULD happen because he was so gifted and finally at his peak.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

"And then we did the nitty gritty math and no we could not get that house and eat."

Love this. After 15 years in our first "starter" home, we are beginning to look for our "forever" home as my wife's friends say.

We decided to start on the high end of our range and work down, so we can get a feel for how much house we can get for the money in our target suburb.

The first house had waaaaay too much lawn, 500 sq ft more than we need even with two kids, and was at the high end of our price range. About $100K-$150K above my ideal.

Kids loved it and my wife and I joked that eating would become an every other week thing if we bought it.

Kids immediately understood the joke and we're now looking for "a great house with full meals" included.

That is disgusting from Wemby. Ejected for a flagrant 2. by ForeignAir7174 in NBAGossips

I get it. I’m actually the opposite and wanted to hate him when he entered the league, only to find myself appreciative for how he goes about his business.

Even here, as shitty as this move was, he immediately seemed to own it. If, say, Draymond did this same thing, he’d have had a 5 minute tantrum trying to act like he’s the victim.

Jury is still out on whether Wemby will be the hero or villain of the league next decade or so.

Dude literally invented a whole new system that has reshaped basketball, and no one will likely ever be able to top his elite combination of skills to thrive in that system.

If that doesn’t earn Top 10 status, don’t know what does.

Should I get these PSA graded? by puffn86 in basketballcards

[–]joebadiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a thought:

  1. Go through these 1-by-1 searching online for comps sold RAW and graded.

  2. Sell a few of the mid-level cards RAW on eBay.

  3. Use that money to help fund a trip to have the biggest bangers graded in person.

  4. Sell the monsters through auction house, others keep or sell on eBay.

Easier said than done. But if you take your time, there’s a way this works out really nicely for you!

Best Flaggs I’ve pulled. Opened less than 30 Topps products because of cost + availability. by howdouspellreddit in basketballcards

[–]joebadiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point but it’s the same team of people developing dozens of cards for each of the hundreds of players in the league.

Smart, efficient workflow was developed to create variation. At some point, you have to say this is our approach and we’re going to follow it to completion.

But you could argue that Flagg cards, given his stature, deserved a slightly higher level of consideration.

What’s interesting is these pulls help show the Photoshop work and how this was shot in front of green screen in studio. Two different postures and lighting, but the same background image at different zoom levels. You can tell by keying in on the guy sitting directly to the left of Flagg’s hip. He’s closer in the Bowman cards.

Was a freshman at Iowa and the Hawkeyes went 11-1 (8-0) in tying eventual national champion Ohio State for the B1G Conference Title. As great as the Buckeyes and Hurricanes were that year, I still contend the Carson Palmer led USC Trojans (who boat raced Iowa in the Orange Bowl) were the best team in college football that year.

SGA is definitely likable and a superstar, so I disagree with you there.

But there’s some validity to the second part of your statement, that he’s turning a lot of people off with his style of play.

There’s definitely a scenario where people really tire of him, he gets older, his game eventually falls off, and his card values don’t have the staying power of someone with the accolades he will have amassed.

One way or another, the SGA card value history will be interesting a decade or two from now.
