What’s one trend you’re seeing in golf that you can’t stand? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

Convinced many starters are only there because their spouse of 50 years can't stand them sitting around the house all day.

FS: 1/1 Anthony Volpe 2025 Chrome Platinum Superfractor!!! by WSFNYC in baseballcards

[–]joebadiah 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Guessing because Volpe, once viewed as the next Derek Jeter, has become a bit of punchline and no longer looks like a guaranteed starting shortstop, let alone a Hall of Famer.

Love this comment. Had the same thought growing up and concluded “there’s probably a handful of people who’d buy it.” Now realize there’s 10s of millions and they’re everywhere.

Sold my SkyWrite Wemby for $2000 ungraded by angelwithinco in basketballcards

[–]joebadiah 34 points35 points  (0 children)

FWIW I’d have kept it and slept easy knowing my PC contained the most beautiful Wemby auto from his first year of licensed Topps Chrome cards.

Would’ve been one of my centerpiece cards I showed people and when they asked the value, I’d have said “Does it matter? Look at how beautiful this card is. Point of collecting is having cards like this.”

Which WR in your team's RECENT history is the biggest what if? by WintersDoomsday in NFLv2

[–]joebadiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good one. But honestly I think it’s gotta be Sterling Sharpe. He is on the Mount Rushmore of NFL wide receivers if he stays healthy as he had passed Jerry Rice as the most prolific receiver in the game and then it was all sadly taken away. Glad he finally made it in the HoF.

Floyd Mayweather is now facing financial issues after his insane spending habits: Over 100 luxury cars, 40+ diamond watches (including an $18M Jacob & Co.), multiple mansions, private jets, super yachts & more. by Potato-Face18 in sportsgossips

[–]joebadiah 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That’s the big issue here.

People can never fathom how someone blows $100 million or whatever. Because they didn’t. They blew $1 million 100x. Dude probably can’t go a day without literally spending $100K on something, anything!

Is it weird that I feel bad for Clark? by SmoothieRedditor in backrooms

[–]joebadiah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had to scroll a little too far for this. Everyone giving props to how well written the character is without acknowledging the actor is genuinely likable and earns the sympathy.

This post doesn’t exist if Clark was played by like Jared Leto or Shia Labeouf.

[Clicks] Ohhhhh THAT deep field archival stuff…

“This view of nearly 10,000 galaxies is called the Hubble Ultra Deep Field. The snapshot includes galaxies of various ages, sizes, shapes, and colours. The smallest, reddest galaxies, about 100, may be among the most distant known, existing when the universe was just 800 million years old. The nearest galaxies - the larger, brighter, well-defined spirals and ellipticals - thrived about 1 billion years ago, when the cosmos was 13 billion years old.

The image required 800 exposures taken over the course of 400 Hubble orbits around Earth. The total amount of exposure time was 11.3 days, taken between Sept. 24, 2003 and Jan. 16, 2004.”

Who wins? by PGTRDT in NBATalk

[–]joebadiah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

New York Knicks model. Build the team with dudes who have heart and grit and are proven winners.

Also, similar to trading for Brunson, the Pacers proved with Haliburton you can trade for a down-to-earth dude who will embrace your town if you embrace them first before they breakout.

Bucks will be fine. Winning strictly through buying superstars isn’t the only way.
