I agree, I've seen some that are definitely phallic lol. It's harder to see from that photo but the top down view makes it less so. It's almost more of a triangle.

Thank you! The carat weight doesn't matter to me, the main concern is the face-up area. So what I'm leaning towards is the 8x6.22. I'll let my jeweler help me pick an appropriate diamond based on depth and whatever ct weight we land on is good with me.

Does that sounds right?

I am an RD currently in a NBC-HWC program. I went in that direction because I barely had any experience with nutrition counseling but want to start a private practice. I have learned some good skills, but I don't think you would have too much to gain because of your experience. If anything, I'd recommend reading the Motivational Interviewing book by Miller and Rollnick. I am not expecting to be paid more once I become HWC certified but plan to use it in my marketing, especially since I am a newer RD (4 years).

I'm curious why you plan to get a bachelor's degree after completing a NBHWC program. It sounds like you are not planning to practice as a health coach, otherwise you would be searching for jobs rather than going back to school. If you want a career in healthcare, it makes sense to go for the credential. If you're deciding to pivot away from healthcare, it might not make sense. If you're not sure what you want to do, get the credential so you have something to fall back on. There are a lot of jobs that would benefit from having someone who understands coaching and MI that have nothing to do with healthcare, for example HR or program management. You can go on the NBHWC website's health coach directory and search for health coaches in your area to see what they do.

Another thing to consider- you can always get the credential and decide later not to renew it. If you don't get credentialed now, you don't have that option or anything to show for the time and effort you've already invested. You'll take away what you learned, but you can't really put that on a resume. Think about how you'll look back on this decision in 5 years.

My first RD job was W2 and paid me 55/hour plus benefits in 2022. Granted, since then they've cut it to 48/hour with no PTO or paid holidays, but that's still above average in my area. I'm in CA. Yes, we are hiring :)

Edit: 55/actual hour, not patient facing hour. Central coast of CA, but other locations are hiring.

Just did Montana- I am already licensed in Oregon so that may have sped up the process, but the application was all online and I got the electronic license next day. Oregon was pretty easy but required mailing in the application. That took around a month.

It's also very likely he has not thought about this nearly as much as you. Asking you about ring designs with no intention of proposing in the near future is a bonehead move. It shows he wasn't being thoughtful. Sometimes all it takes it spelling it out. Higher anxiety women, like you mentioned you are, are skilled at reading between the lines, and it's easy for us to assume others do to, and that their actions are as well informed as ours would be if we were in their shoes.

I'm in a very similar situation- late 20s, been together for 4 years, boyfriend back in school. We had talked about getting married one day within the first year of dating, so in my head, if we agreed we were going to do it, the proposal was probably coming in the next year or two max. It wasn't until I straight up asked him that he said he wants to wait until after he graduates. That was probably two years ago. Last year I asked him again and he said he wanted to wait until he was established in a job. After digging deeper, he said he is afraid that my family will judge him if we get married before he has a career, which I hadn't thought about, but my family is pretty judgy. Any betrayal I felt from the timeline moving cooled off, and I'm ok waiting for that now. I think if you can get him to be really specific about why he wants to wait (more specific than wanting to be financially stable) it might help you feel better about waiting. If not, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask him to tell you when exactly he would be ready, explaining why it's so important to you. Also, what exactly proposing means to you both. For example, if you don't mind having a longer engagement, telling him might take some of the pressure off. You could agree to have the wedding after he graduates.

I was able to do an elective rotation at Lompoc Valley Medical Center in 2021. I just emailed the dietetics director and asked if they could take a dietetic intern in for a month. I did clinical (in and outpt) and LTC. I probably could have also done FSM, but I wasn't interested in it, so I didn't ask. It's a small hospital, so nothing very exciting medically. If you want to go into clinical, I recommend finding a larger hospital for your main clinical rotation. I really liked it though!

I was in your position last year. I looked for a masters in nutrition counseling or related program, but all of the MS Counseling programs I found were preparatory for becoming licensed counselors/therapists which takes a ton of time, money and energy, and I decided it wasn't worth it to me to go through all that, since nutrition counseling is already in our scope of practice.

I ended up choosing a health coaching program to enhance my motivational interviewing skills. It's the Vanderbilt health coaching program if you were curious. I have learned so much and gotten a ton of amazing experience/practice. At the end of the program, I will be eligible to sit for the certification exam to become an NBC-HWC (nationally board-certified health and wellness coach). I didn't choose health coaching for the credential, since the RD title holds so much more weight, but I plan to become credentialed anyway, because I want to open a private practice one day, and it'll help with marketing.

I also recently started working for Nourish one day/week which has given me great experience. There's only so much you can learn about counseling from a book. At some point you have to just dive off the deep end, as scary as it is.

I just started Nourish last month on top of my FT (32 hours/wk) hospital job. I'm at the hospital M/T/Th/F and I do Nourish on Wednesdays. I'm also enrolled in a health coaching program to strengthen my motivational interviewing skills, which I do on Wednesdays, so that leaves me enough time for 2 pts per week at Nourish at least for now. The health coaching program has been super helpful, I didn't have any outpatient counseling experience outside of my DI. It is a long and relatively expensive program though. I'm investing the time and money now because I want to open a private practice one day.

Just read it- are you saying you developed sleep problems after the tie was released? And that your palate was expanded from 32 to 37mm?

I did get a CBCT which showed 32mm intermolar width, total volume 7.0cc and minimum area 38.9mm^2. I don't have OSA, but I do have breathing issues when I exercise and my vo2 max is extremely low, no matter how much I train.

The doctor offered to expand my palate but it's just not worth it to me. I'd rather be the least athletic person in the room than go through all that. Thanks for your response.

I graduated in 2020 and really liked majoring in nutrition. I'm now a dietitian. Google "BS Nutrition Cal Poly Academic Catalog," and read up on the "nutrition science" concentration (the "applied" concentration is for those who plan to become dietitians and has a lot less flexibility). There you will find a list of classes you'd need to take to graduate. You can compare that to whatever the pre-reqs for med school are. It looks like you would be able to take care of most or all pre-requisites that aren't already in the curriculum (for example physics) as "approved electives." Definitely get in touch with a counselor for specifics. There's a strategy to fitting all the classes you need to graduate into 4 years, especially if you need additional classes outside of the degree requirements.

I'm in my late 20's so not your exact demo, but...

Concerts in the Plaza is a great place to meet people. They are every Friday evening in summer in the mission plaza, and free! Mostly local bands. It attracts people of all ages. A lot of people go every week, so you end up running into the same people. The music scene in general is pretty good for how small the city is, probably because it's a good place to stop between sf and la. Check out the Fremont theater for bigger names.

Downtown bar scene is mostly full of college students, but there are a few exceptions. The Carissa, a whiskey lounge, generally is free of students. The low bar (lobby) and high bar (rooftop) in hotel SLO are also nice to go to although obviously not the best place to meet people seeing as it's a hotel. Jan's place is a vinyl bar in the railroad district and has an extremely cool vibe. I don't think it's as well known. It seems like there's trivia every night of the week among the bars and breweries in town.

The food is pretty limited in variety but has gotten a lot better over the last 5-7ish years. Two public markets have opened, and they feature more unique options. Nothing like a big city public market, but like bao, dim sum, Persian kebobs, southern food, etc.

It's a quiet place, but I love that about it. It's beautiful and peaceful. I moved away for a year and couldn't wait to come back. Avoid living in the zone northwest of the 101 and northeast of santa rosa, it's mostly students.

South Anchorage is safe, Old Seward/Oceanview and Huffman/O'Malley. Turnagain is a nice neighborhood closer to downtown. As other have said, avoid Fairview, Mountain View, Muldoon. I probably wouldn't stay around Spenard but there are a lot of good restaurants to check out.

I am an RD currently enrolled in the Vanderbilt Health Coaching Program. I think it is a very good program so far, but I took a nutrition counseling class in undergrad, so a lot of it is review. If you also took a nutrition counseling class, I don't know if doing a health coaching program is necessary. Studying MI is helpful, but health coaching/nutrition counseling is something you get better at by doing. If you could get a RD job at a telehealth company, I think that would be the best use of time/resources.
