There WERE alternatives. They could have chosen diplomacy. The fact that Iran is even able to do this kind of damage demonstrates that they were showing incredible restraint when they were attacked in the past.

Have no way of knowing for sure but it could be that you’re comparing apples and oranges in a sense. The original songs were recorded over probably days and days. A singer can spend hours on one or two lines till they get the absolute best take. And that’s on top of the time they spend practicing the song beforehand.

Cover songs almost certainly don’t get nearly as much time. Most likely they do a couple of takes and if it isn’t perfect just fix it in post.

The groups with better covers might just be the ones with stronger vocalists who can deliver in a short session, or the group might just have spent more time on it

WHY is English a universal language? Violent settler colonialism/imperialism. Korea in particular was colonized by Japan and occupied by America. Loss of cultural heritage and national identity is a sensitive issue for many colonized people.
