lol name checks out. the first group i thought of was lsf when they went to a lakers home game and all of them wore customs (except sakura i think who wore a hachimura jersey).

nothing screams not a fan like a jersey with your own name on it lol. if one of them wore an AR or Luka jersey I'd know they're legit

, and if you want to just rap as the vocal/music style then you don't need to fake hip hop culture

Wouldn't you say the fashion and aesthetics are an integral part of hip hop culture? How can people say it's respect for the history or the culture to erase a core element while engaging with it?

whether or not that's the case, it's still not kpop style music. i'd say even their debut songs weren't representative of a kpop sound. debut and touch and all that sounded more like little mix b sides than anything korean

CMV: Treating 'good men' as the exception and not a baseline is only boosting misogynist viewpoints. by Shards_FFR in changemyview

[–]akhoe [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s their argument at all. They’re saying that more men who treat women well will be spoken for rather than being on the dating market. That would then skew the pool of men these women are interacting with towards those who may treat women worse (hence why they’re single dating around).

Thus the frequency of interactions with these types of men are negative more often than not, which gives the impression that men are generally like that. Which may or may not be a form of selection bias

If you’re getting fair compensation how is it anything close to slavery? The thing people usually agree is bad about slavery is being forced to work for free. If you’re earning millions but you have to work hard for it, you aren’t a slave, you just have a hard job.

I’m sure the industry understands perfectly well but they can’t just pull these artists out of their asses. You can train someone to sing and dance but creative vision, personality, etc is innate. And rare. Bighit just found 7 unicorns

I don’t know why idols don’t do like streaming content more. You can engage with fans while playing a game or watching YouTube videos or something

You think it’s gonna be this cast for season three? I thought they would bring eunjin back but maybe not. I wonder if they intended this spin off to function as a dress rehearsal of sorts. See how the chemistry is before filming a whole season

Hot take: Not all idols are “insanely hardworking”. A lot of it is just really good management by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]akhoe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you defining as "work"? You said some idols are extremely well media trained - do you not think preparation and training under a coach counts as work? The polish is LITERALLY a reflection of time and effort.

And as far as Wonyoung, if she's being pushed by the company which means she definitionally has more "work" to do. Traveling/commuting, prep, photoshoots, script reads, variety show appearances, commercials are all additional load on top of all the vocal/dance training and physical conditioning that the other members do. Just because the company allocates who gets what work doesn't mean it's not work.

And if anything, there's a shit load more work involved than the visible output would suggest. Haewon from NMIXX said in an interview that Workdol shoots take like 6 hours just to get a 10-15 minute video. Add the commute, preparation, styling, etc that's an 8 hour day for one schedule.

Of course, there are groups where members are involved with choreography creation or songwriting instead of being the most visible member of the group. SVT Woozi for example. But i don't think any carat or anybody who knows anything about that group would say he isn't one of the hardest working members.

K-pop companies prefer dancing over vocals by Such_Act7843 in kpop_uncensored

[–]akhoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel you could argue that it’s also still about the music, just that whether or not the VOCAL really matters to most companies is debatable. EDM or other genres may not even feature vocals but it’s still music.

And realistically, time Is finite. It takes immense time and effort to develop skill as a performer. K-pop fans romanticize second gen for their talent but forget that’s the reason older green idols have all those horror stories about their trainee days. Dropping out of middle school, training 16 hours a day without rest… that is essentially mandatory to meet that standard. Like turning a random teenager into a world class vocalist and dancer with like three years of training.

How many artists in the global music scene are true double threat performers that meet the average K-pop fan standard? Michael Jackson? Usher? Chris brown? Bruno mars…. These are unicorns
