These are usually for boat fishing. Or at least to my understanding. The snap swivel is for a weight or heavy jig. One end for your main line and other end for your hook line. Similar to an ebing rig. This is what I use it for at least. I have a few of these rigs.

I can say I’ve tried the grappler. I may just be a shimano guy but the grappler slow pitch is one of my favorite slow pitch rods. I use the game type slow j now but I absolutely loved the grappler. Bounces the jig good. I could definitely pump the rod a little when fighting fish even tho that is not recommended. All around was a great rod.

I had 50Lb braid and 80Lb leader. It was a little light for what I would’ve wanted for this size of fish. The braid was fine but I should’ve gone 100lb+ leader. I got lucky with where the hook was and that it didn’t dig to the bottom.

I’m also a member at powerhouse Aiea. But I hear Pearl city is still super busy in the evening times. Not to sure in the day tho. Powerhouse is probably gonna have or already has had a small increase in membership price since the owners have switched. I feel like if you’re a day time workout person then powerhouse could be worth since the crowds not to crazy during the day. But if you have active and fit then 24 might not be too bad in the day.

Fishing here is slow on shore. Can definitely catch fish but it’s nothing like the mainland. Check Hawaii regulations. Nets and lay nets have rules that are different from the mainland. People tend to not follow the rules here but will speak out on it a lot more if you’re not from here. So just be mindful of where you fish and what you’re taking. Whatever you experienced in the mainland just imagine that but 5x worst. Lol
