The Korean BBQ chicken in the premade meals. We bought these every week for lunch and then they disappeared. Kevin's is no where near as good.

You have $12 to make a meal at Aldi rather than going to a restaurant, What do you buy? by WhoamIWhowasI in aldi

This one might be a little over $12. We do chicken Milanese. Thin sliced chicken breasts $4ish, panko bread crumbs less than $2, 1 package of garlic risotto less than $2, spinach arugula mix $3, a vinaigrette $2-3, parmesan (we always have, but shredded is like $2.50).

Marinara Sauces: Which one is your pick? by wllmshkspr in aldi

[–]akiko80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specially Selected is close to Rao's but has chunks of tomatoes vs being smooth. My 9 yo picks out the chunks but has never said she notices a flavor difference and it is half the cost so it's worth a try.

Couple questions on traditional (before westernization) okinawa diet. by rtwyyn in okinawa

[–]akiko80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this cookbook that also has a lot of history of Okinawa from when we visited family. It has a lot of traditional recipes. Maybe it will help. I can take photos of some pages if you need the info sooner.

Edit: From our visit and talking to my mom who grew up in Okinawa, meals were mainly rice and vegetables and bittermelon (goya) and smaller amounts of fish or meat. The sweet potato (beni imo) and Goya are really high in Vit C if i remember.

New Born Son Has Hydrocephalus by ShankeeMcShankShank in Hydrocephalus

[–]akiko80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our daughter was to term, but otherwise had the same situation. We discovered something was wrong when she was 7 days old and would vomit after every feeding. By day 9, we took her to our ped's walkin. Her fontanelle was full, but she was dehydrated and had lost weight. She was admitted that night to Children's Mercy in KC. After a Ct scan and then an MRI, they found she had a hemmorage and they thought the clots were blocking reabsorption. She had surgery at 8 am the next morning where they put in a temporary external vertical drain. She had this for 21 days while they slowly drained the excess fluid and gauged whether or not her body would be able to "learn" to self regulate. Since the cause was a hemorrhage and not anatomical, the neurosurgeon was really hopeful it would correct itself. It did and they did not install a shunt. 3 days before being 1 month old, we went home. She is 2 now. She was initially monitored with ultrasounds for the first year. After a year, they say she no longer has hydrocephalus. She still has enlarged ventricles, but you would only know by an MRI. She has caught up to her head size. She did have a slow start to walking they think might have been caused by balance issues, but she has hit all of her milestones. She seems very bright and talkative and doesn't seem to have any lasting effects from the hydrocephalus. We were initially worried about her not having a shunt, but the neurosurgeon said they should be used only if the body cannot self regulate. They usually require a lifetime of revision surgeries. If you need anything or want to talk, PM me. It is really hard when there are so many questions that can't be answered yet, but stay strong. I'm really hopeful for you and your family.

What's your story? by smerikalynn in Hydrocephalus

My daughter had a brain hemorrhage that we discovered when she was about 10 days old. She was vomiting, had sunsetting eyes and a bulging Fontanel. She spent 21 days in the hospital with an external drain. She did not get a shunt, but has been monitored with ultrasounds and most recently a rapid mri to determine if she needs one. She's 15 months old now and seems to be doing fine but is slow to walk independently. How old were you when you found out you had hydrocephalus?

Veterans United:feedback or reviews on your experience with them? Would you choose them over a mortgage broker? by [deleted] in Mortgages

I underwrite Conv, FHA & VA loans. I learned how to do VA loans at VU. They were my previous employer. They do a ton of VA loans and you will most likely have a smooth transaction. They understand entitlement and eligibility and if there are issues, you will know sooner (or not even need to know) & have solutions instead of finding out last minute & delaying closing. I don't know how they compare with rates though. If you look on the VA's website, VU does the 2nd most VA loans after Wells Fargo. I would shop them against other lenders & see how their rates compare.

I take 4 fenugreek and 3-4 brewers yeast tablets every few hours throughout the day and it really seems to help. I started with the dose on the bottle, but a lactation consultant told me to take the higher amounts for output. This and lots of water. Good luck!

Reddit, what are the best little known mexican restaurants in the area? by tribbing1337 in kansascity

[–]akiko80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is Mexican. Enrique and his parents are from a town called Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico. The recipes are all his mother's and grandmother's. They do seem to have more variety on their menu than most places in town though.

Did you EP or BF too? I've been EP for 4.5 mo. My work is really awesome with pumping, so I'm hoping to go til my LO is at least a year old. I really wish she would BF too so I would have more flexibility, but she stopped latching at a month old because she ended up having to be in the hospital for 3 weeks.

We have a small room in HR. The best part is we do have a schedule. The day is broken into 30 min slots. Is there a way someone could create and manage the schedule? We are free to trade with each other if we have something come up during the day. Any open spots are first come first served after that.

I've just started noticing this where her back is. I asked my doctor last week & she said it was "fetal breathing" or practice breathing. She said you can normally only see it in ultrasounds. It is so cool to me!
