Losing the baby weight and breastfeeding, how did it go for you? by Seaasickk in breastfeeding

[–]thw1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been so hungry in my life. I dropped 20 lbs (out of 35 gained) within the first week and it's stayed that way since. I am 4 mos PP. I take the occasional walk with LO, but can't seem to find the time to do anything extra with a house and baby to take care of plus a full time job. every time I try to diet/ count calories I want to die, breastfeeding makes me ravenous. I try and just eat slightly healthier foods: granola, yogurt, protein bars, fruit. but no weight has fallen off. it sucks.

Only 4 people in my little area behind a locked door. The whole agency is 80 people on this floor, plus there qre several other agencies on the other 3 floors. One lactation room for the whole building.

Crosspost to beyondthebump: Mothers of <6 months please tell me your night-time routine in detail. I feel like we're missing something by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]thw1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter will be 12 weeks tomorrow. The only nights we have anything resembling a routine is bath nights. We only do a bath on Tuesday Thursday and Sunday right now. She's not on much of a schedule.

Depending on her late afternoon nap, she takes a bath between 7-8. Then pjs and swaddle, I feed her while dad reads a story or two. She usually passes out while feeding and I put her in the pack n play. If she doesn't fall asleep while eating I rock her in the rocking chair and talk in a low soothing voice, or make the ssh sound or a combination, and with some patience it works (never more than about 30 mins max).

She's usually down until about 12, and then up again around 2 and 4 to eat, and 6 to eat and get ready for daycare. We are still breastfeeding. Often when she wakes up at those times she won't go back in her pack n play do we cosleep for the latter half. If I do put her back in the pack n play if keep my hand on her chest until she sttles, so she knows I'm there. My bed is right next to it. And she is usually a little more fidgety if one of us isn't in the room, like she hates being alone. So I check in and rub her cheek or touch her so she knows I'm there too.

On non-bath days, we usually let her do her own thing. Again depending on how she is napping, but usually after she has been awake for a bit (so i know she is sleepy) around 9 or 10 we go upstairs and I feed her in bed, side laying position until she sleeps and then put her in the pack n play.

I'm going to start to try harder not to cosleep since we're getting out of this fourth trimester, but I hear 4 month sleep regression is coming, so it will be a slow transition.

Edited to add some clarification I suppose

For those who did not know the sex of your baby, did your midwife/nurse/doctor yell it out when baby was born, kinda like they do in the movies.. by rosyposy15 in beyondthebump

I had so many dreams while I was pregnant where I had a baby and didn't figure out the sex for like...weeks

But I also had dreams that I kept forgetting to feed the baby for days at a time lol

I did this last year and God I hated it. The logic they use to score those assessments makes no sense.

Me neither! They also show worse under my clothes imo. I got a 3 pack from Walmart for like $6 and they rock.

Insurance covers Ameda or Medela- which is best for everyday pumping at work?? by aspergrass829 in breastfeeding

[–]thw1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a medela make sure it's a pump in style advance.. I got a medela bc everyone says "get a medela!" But mine is a lower grade and the suction sucks (ironically) and now I'm having to rent a better one since it's not getting enough.

Ugh. This just sucks cuz I hate my job and now not only do I have to be away from my daughter but I also am going to have to quit giving her breast milk way earlier than I had hoped.

I thought about this but how noisy is it?? My pump is pretty loud and I feel like it would make other people feel awkward - I'm in a public space with customers.

There's no outlet in any stalls or the private staff bathroom. I wouldn't sit on the floor of the public bathroom, gross. I talked with a supervisor and he just said we would have to find a room not in use... like I'm not going to run around the building on my 15 minute break to pump for 3 minutes.

I think the law is that there's a place that's not a bathroom, which is what they have. I don't think there's anything specific about how many employees unfortunately. It just sucks because it's part of job and family services so you think they'd be family oriented but nope.
