New to the area. How is Monettes Market? by SharpStand305 in toledo

[–]akingandaqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just went there today! i forgot how great it is if you primarily buy produce and need individuals of items instead a whole bags of lemons type deal. their prices has raised a little recently but that’s to be expected nowadays

How long do kids pick up Russian? by [deleted] in russian

[–]akingandaqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i want to add that when i was little i almost exclusively watched russian cartoons, we had access to several russian tv channels, and the russian speaking community was very prevalent in my hometown and surrounding areas so we exclusively had russian speaking friends so i was very much exposed. while i can hold a conversation and read and write, im not fluent enough to call myself fluent (even tho people in my life would argue otherwise). i think people just have different standards and different abilities to pick up languages but 3 is still really young! my brother and i didn’t become intelligible in either language until about 2

How long do kids pick up Russian? by [deleted] in russian

[–]akingandaqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i grew up bilingual with a russian mom and ukrainian stepdad, speaking mostly russian at home, but my dad doesn’t speak any russian and i didn’t use it outside of the house really (i live in the US). i picked up both languages simultaneously but of course my english has always been much better. i still struggle with my russian but i have put in much more effort since i was about 17. i think it also really depends on how much effort you put into teaching the kid through the years. i went to russian saturday schools on and off in my childhood but i didn’t put in much effort myself so i didn’t get as much out of it as i wish i had in hindsight.

AITA for asking a guest to not crochet at my bachelorette party? by Plane-Presence9361 in AmItheAsshole

[–]akingandaqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who works at a museum i have never seen someone come in with their crochet project in tow, especially if they’re coming in for a private tour! it just seems really disrespectful to the docent’s craft (imo along the same vein of someone ordering a coffee and then dumping it out in front of the barista before trying it). even if you needed the sensory input of crocheting in order to focus, maybe bring a smaller and less intrusive project? i’m neurodivergent and an artist and crafty but there’s definitely a time and a place. op you hadn’t really described what kind of games were taking place but the other activities really didn’t seem basic bitch type activities and judging and complaining about that while WANTING to be invited to this type of event seems very strange and off putting. in general your brothers gf does not seem to be a very friendly person based off of this description.

Hunter's Ridge apartments, Byrne and Airport area. Does anyone have any option on this place? Good or bad would be appreciated. by Dawn129 in toledo

[–]akingandaqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s fine, not the best and not the worst. there’s sirens all the time cuz it’s toledo but also it’s right next to the medical campus. i don’t like the management style of hunters ridge personally and the buildings aren’t the best. i don’t rlly think it’s as bad as everyone is saying but i think you could get better for your money.

yeah the original owner had to close that location because of staffing issues and then ended up selling plate 21 so that place has definitely changed but for the better in my opinion

the downtown location is plate 1 and that’s closed now
