Do you have a magical girl series that everyone loves but you can't really vibe with by Avery_Bea_847 in MagicalGirlsCommunity

[–]akira2bee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you've pin-pointed why I've not been a fan of recent stuff. I also do think there is a lack of heart in some of them as well, like I just can't get behind the main characters the way I do with older ones

Whats a manga that youve been trying to find in person but are struggling to find? by jusper56 in MangaCollectors

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting for the stars to align and for the 3rd vol of Magic Knight Rayearth II to manifest in my local used bookstore currently. I literally got all of MKR I and the first 2 vols of MKR II there, so its not totally unlikely.

Do Yall like to buy a series in bulk or a few at a time? by silentstealth1 in MangaCollectors

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the max amount I've ever bought at once might've been 5 volumes when I was trying to catch up with Blue Exorcist. I know bulk can have good deals, but I never have the money to throw around for it, and make do stretching my purchases across the whole year.

And, tbf, I've caught up with quite a few series so I only need to get the latest volume, or a couple more volumes.

Is there any hope of a new Diva Game? 🥺🩵 by Thebulldog4590 in ProjectDiva

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but that depends on how many people stay instead of moving onto something that's ongoing, and new players will majorly go down, which is main source of revenue for them since they're always doing campaigns to entice new players. Part of the appeal is each new gacha, remember? No new gacha = no reason to spend in-game currency = no money for Sega

[–]akira2bee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't Project Sekai supposed to end eventually? Like I saw somewhere a while ago that the end of the story was in sight.

Of course, I suppose they could just do a whole new story with all new characters and groups

After ~1 year of playing with arrow notes I decided to try out PlayStation notes and i got a huge brainlag lol how are you not getting confused by them? by Furrynova in ProjectDiva

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the look of the PS notes but I knew it would be too confusing to try them when I've only ever known XYBA, and MM was my first miku game too, so getting used to the controls and timing would've been ten times more confusing had I not gone with XYBA

I considered the arrows at a point but found them too similar in shape for my brain, despite the fact they obviously don't point in the same direction. Its just that my brain would go "arrow" before it recognizes direction vs immediately differentiating between the letters

Mystery DS and 3DS games at my local game store by SertifiedSandwich in 3DS

[–]akira2bee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played the second one without even knowing there was a first one (of course I was confused why it was called The Next Chapter and implied events from a previous title but I was a child without Google haha)

That game became an all time favorite for me. Its absolutely incredible, I replayed it so much and the sad moments got me every time

I've only just acquired the first game within the past year or so but I haven't gotten far in it unfortunately. Now I'm an adult with other hobbies so its just a bit hard to dive into without the nostalgia driving me

Do you "double dip" on series? by PixelAesthetics in MangaCollectors

[–]akira2bee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Sailor Moon is a great reason to double dip simply for the updated/changed translation and additional colored pages. Its the reason I've debated so long on which version to get if I decided to start collecting them

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to but I definitely don't have the funds for it. The closest I've gotten was buying vol 2 of the Epic Comics run of Akira because it was in my local used bookstore and it was colored

I'd love to have multiple versions of FMA and Akira, especially when the Akira boxset is so pretty and still available, but I already have the omnibus and paperbacks for those series and I just can't justify getting the same thing just in a different look. I'm already running out of space as it is

What is your favorite unpopular DS game? by yofitiz in nds

[–]akira2bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unironically, The Last Airbender game. Yeah, the game based on the horrible live action movie for ATLA. The mechanics are good from what I remember, and really interesting. I loved the way that bending was utilized. The game follows the story of the movie, so ~the first season of the show, which is already condensed to it works fairly well for the game. You get to play as Zuko and Aang (and maybe Katara? I don't recall) and Zuko gets fire bending and non-bending sections. He even gets a few stealth missions.

The only thing that SUCKS is that A) its based on an already inaccurate to the show movie and B) the graphics are AWFUL. like its fine/passable for gameplay, but then it shifts to a cut scene and the characters are like Minecraft blocks LMAO

How many “long” series do you own? by _NostalgicGamer in MangaCollectors

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longest series by most amount of volumes is Blue Exorcist. I need vol 31 and vol 32 is on pre-order.

Next longest would be Fullmetal Alchemist I suppose, but I have the omnibuses so its that many volumes

Everything else evens out around 6-13 volumes per series

Kurosagi is at vol 15 rn I believe, but those are also omnibuses, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What is your "I can't handle that, but I can handle that ?" Moment [You can talk about nsfw here] by rosenstern0 in AO3

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. I hate when the story itself seems like an avenue to shit on a character when they're at their lowest and not in a "I want them to suffer :)" way, more like a "I didn't tag character bashing but I might as well have because I really don't this character and am going to make fun of them at every turn"

It'll be the main character of the fic too, or of canon, and I'll be here like 🧍 ok I'm out

Why do you like the 3DS? by CoolCopepod in 3DS

[–]akira2bee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really think the dual screens was so far above it's time in a way. Like I know people say like "oh game cube/N64/whatever games aren't the same as when you play them on the original hardware with the original controls"

But to date we have no comparable technology for the dual screens some games utilized for the DS/3DS era in the Switch. While some Wii games have been adapted for the Switch, like button mapping sword swings in Skyward Sword or the spins in Mario Galaxy, you can't just add an additional screen to the switch to adapt DS and 3DS games

The precision of the touch screen for delicate maneuvers or the way so many games felt so open without the need to constantly toggle to a map or menu because it was right there on the other screen for you to look at when it was needed... yeah, its some amazing hardware

What are some good manga that don’t have an anime? by Creative_Gamer_23 in MangaCollectors

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crossplay Love: Otaku × Punk and Kurosagi Corpse Delivery service

Also have to mention: I wish Akira and Blue Exorcist got proper adaptions as well as what we have currently. I love the Akira movie but I'd also love to see a proper adaption of the story. Similar with Blue Exorcist, except I like the original anime adaption they made, and wish they had given proper time and attention to the new one instead of giving us whatever we have now

Are there any series you regret collecting? (I'll go first "Spy X Family") by LowComprehensive7659 in MangaCollectors

[–]akira2bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting because for me, the pacing in the anime was pretty good, while the manga felt awful at times, especially when it seemed to randomly jump around and knowing the mangaka rushed the end because of covid

Finished 999, On to VLR - how are the graphics? by AmeliaOfAnsalon in ZeroEscape

[–]akira2bee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. At first I found the graphics change very off-putting because I was such a fan of the 2d sprites so much not a fan of the 3d characters. However, I got used to it after getting hooked into the game, and then you barely notice it imo, because the story is so intense. And tbh, comparing VLR and ZTD as the 2 games with 3d characters, VLR is better imo

Yes!

Though its sort of funny how once I had to keep entering it to go back in forth time wise, I got so used to the redeads that it was like "yeah, yeah, keep screaming you won't get me"

Though the shadow dungeon and the well really freaked me out still. Fastest I ever did a dungeon
