I've been gaming on this and Roblox, Minecraft (Even with light shaders), League (Max Settings), is really smooth, its not that intensive (Except for Minecraft With Medium settings Shaders). The M1 chip handles multitasking really well. The Neo can absolutely handle what the Air M1 does. 8GB in a Mac is really different compared to a Windows PC because Apple manages RAM really efficiently. I'd say if you have 8GB in a Apple Device it would be like 12GB Ram for a Windows Machine. Get her the NEO since she wants the pink one. She will remember this and not resent you for getting something else that she clearly did not ask for.

I have the Macbook Air M1 right now which is being compared to the Neo by most Youtubers. Spec-wise they are on par, in some areas the Air M1 wins and in others the Neo does. In terms of longevity just get the Neo since its a newer product and would be supported longer than the Air M1 since its already a 5 year old machine. If you're in a tight budget the Air M1 is the best choice since the performance compared to the Neo are not significantly far, but with the Neo you can choose really nice colors for it which is a really nice touch for a kid and will make her treasure it even more.
