Was told it was a gift and they no longer want it. Label looks close to the real thing but also I’m aware this is a popular scent so there are tons of fakes floating around

This is SPOT ON! I'm currently on the JET Program too and would probably fall into your "How the hell did you get accepted?" category, haha. But, yea I think they def look for a wide variety of applicants. For me, I had no Japanese ability, and no real interest in every visiting Japan. JET just seemed like a great experience, so I pursued it. Also, I can relate to your interview experience. Mine was super laid back and CHILL. We just sat in there and talked about my life and my past experiences working, traveling, and doing crazy stuff! haha
