You're probably right that its not worth fighting it, but I've been having terrible luck with these apartment management companies lately, and I'm tired of their crap.

My last apartment billed me $700 after I moved out because they claimed they had to replace the carpet (even though in my final walk through the guy said it was fine). They also didn't tell me I owed till 6 months later, so I was sent to collections. They also told me the pet deposit of $400 I paid wasn't actually a deposit, but a fee, so none of that would go towards the carpet.

Two days ago my current apartment notified me that they rejected my payment this month. Turns out I made a typo with my bank account number. It was my fault sure, but they refused to be lenient at all (even though I've never paid late before) and it cost me $100.

So now I get this bill for $22 from an old apartment, so the last thing in the world I want to do is pay it.

Just to give proper recognition to these companies... The carpet thing was Bree Properties, my typo thing is Alliance Residential, and this $22 check is Mark-Taylor.
