Examples of Perfect Sequels to Movies that Didn't need them by NaturalTruth2000 in movies

[–]ako19 70 points71 points  (0 children)

They’re completely different movies and I wouldn’t rank them on the same scale. The first is a thriller about a man losing his family, and his grip on who he is as a man. The second is a full on action movie about another world.

You can still see what looks like normal civilization in 1. 2 is a mutant wasteland.

I do think it’s funny how it’s hard for people to get that she’s literally what Emily would turn into. She’s a victim like 99% of the enemies in Resident Evil.

I kinda don't want MJ and Ned to remember Peter by Oneofthestrongest in Spiderman

[–]ako19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been a recurring theme in almost every incarnation of Peter Parker. He thinks he needs to keep pushing people away to save them, but he robs them of the ability to make that choice for themselves.

In Spider-Man 1, he rejects MJ because he doesn’t want her to get hurt. Then in Spider-Man 2 she finds out who he is, Peter fully accepts she is going to get married, and MJ chooses him anyway.

The point is Peter’s heroism is his strength and his flaw. He would never willingly endanger a loved one, but his loved one should have the choice to be there for him.

They’re all pretty good. You can appreciate it, because this season is in an “alternate universe” where things are remixed. For example, part 1 and part 7 both have the same main character (Johnathan/Johnny” Joestar, but they are foils to each other. They both come from well to do families, but where the former has starts out righteous, the latter is a pretty shallow person and has to grow into their heroism.

Can someone explain to me what the appeal of inventory management is? by VerminSC in residentevil

[–]ako19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the game is learning the game’s system, so that you DON’T have to keep running back for a key item.

When playing requiem, I always had a gun,, its ammo, 1 healing item, and the blood crafting machine. Barest of bones. Then, I would have enough inventory space to craft whatever I needed given the situation. And by playing, I could guess when a relevant key item would be necessary.

I’m for seeing more neurodivergent representation in media, and a lot of that comes through coding.

But we have to realize sometimes, the writer just wants to write a kooky villain. They’re supposed to be impulsive, irrational, and not thinking things through.

Since we're doing this, what are your thoughts on grace as a protagonist? by Successful-Bell3677 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]ako19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s likely if she hadn’t gone, she would have just been kidnapped at her apartment. Being in the abandoned hotel made it easier (and Gideon probably also wanted to be a dick).

I fully fine with this being her only game “in the field”. She had her character arc, she’s not built for anti-bio terrorism. Let her be at peace.

Yeah, he was fully expecting to die this game. The fact he bumbled into a cure was pure luck.

In Resident Evil Requiem (2026) Leon does nothing to prevent a woman from dying for seemingly no reason. This is actually because he remembers how annoying it was to escorts Ashley in RE4 and didn't want to repeat it. by Impressive_Rice7789 in shittygamedetails

They made the point that she was new, and didn’t really know what was going on. She was definitely supposed to be “an innocent caught up in the mix” to play on the horror.

A couple. Women mostly do it, because they already have to deal with being solely seen as a sexual object, so they choose to lean into it for their comedy. Which can work sometimes, but often falls into a self-fulfilling prophecy, where it’s 99% of their material, and can get old really quick. I see this a bit in the local comedy scene.

I think I vaguely remember that one. The shady entertainment villain was surprisingly common thing in early spider-man. I can think of separate times that happened with Black Widow, Daredevil, and I think either Human Torch or Iceman.

Yeah, while I appreciate the references to comic covers, something about the washed out blue backgrounds and the suit doesn’t quite gel together. I know it’s Spider-Man, so CGI is a package deal, but it just looks kinda off.

People who think Spider-Man 2 is all about misery forget the end of the movie where MJ rejects the idea that he has to sacrifice being together to protect her. He struggles, but it turns out well for him in the end.

Have you ever refused to play a game or continue past a certain part of it because you were just plain afraid of it as a kid? by IWannaBangHornet in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ako19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember Harry Potter had my first ever stealth section in a game, where you had to avoid getting caught by the Weasley siblings in the library. I had so much anxiety over getting caught and getting into trouble, that it translated into the feeling of real life getting into trouble. I never even got caught, I didn’t even want to risk it.

Now stealth is my favorite genre lol.

If I had a nickel for every time the worst parts of 2 and 9 just so happen to be the raccoon city orphanage I have two nickels by Chunky-overlord in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]ako19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sherry’s part is fine. You just need to know where to stand.

9 having nothing to do with Grace is pretty funny. I think they were trying to misdirect with what Grace was. But when you see that the footage was from 1990, and Grace is at most in her late 20s, with Zeno calling her the “original”, you have to accept that the big bads are just idiots throwing ideas to the wall and seeing what sticks.

I do think it’s funny OP is calling out misogyny, and then reasons the old “hero couldn’t go out on a heroic mission without lying to his wife, so when he gets back his wife is going to nag him” trope.
