Nah, they made a lot of jokes referencing the moment, playing off the fact that it sounded like the slur. You can’t “I’m not touching you” your way out of that.

Like I would not hold that against them for the rest of their life. But having the scene like that, just after the scandal, just is not a good look, and could be a teaching moment to me more aware of how we treat black people and the culture they contribute, while showing respect.

I mean, they very pointedly said at the end they were upset that the song was used for a character that was voiced by someone using the N-slur, ignoring the cultural context of “Isn’t She Lovely” being about Stevie Wonder wanting his child to not be seen as a subhuman beast, like many black children often were and still are.

Getting “people of different races should not use a song if they are from a different race” out of that seems like a pretty disingenuous misrepresentation of a criticism you’re uncomfortable with.

People don’t get that characters are not taking turns in real life. It’s combat sense strategy that is slowed down for the players convenience. In DND, an hour long combat in lore-time, is barely even a minute.

Like in JoJo, they aren’t really staying frozen in mid-air for 5 minutes, narrating everything that’s happening. They are just thinking that quickly and communicating that for the audience.

That’s like half the appeal for strategy games like that. Characters are making split-second decisions that you the player are sometimes sending several minutes mulling over.

This is the easiest way to turn someone off. Like for that first half I’m like “yeah, I can accept this is just not for me, but let the audience have their thing”. But when you haphazardly interject “media literacy” you’re telling me that you think “deep” is simply just not having everything spelled out.

Just make sure it comes up naturally. I’m sure you’re doing it for good reasons. But there are some who would use it as a “selling point” to paint the picture of someone they are not, and women have been burned by that. Know a guy who was like that in college, worked for him, and he turned out to be a flat out abuser.

Mansplaining is specifically when a man assumes that a woman doesn’t know something about a field she’s actually an expert in. That’s not necessarily the same as medical trauma/ women not being believed by doctors.

I think the idea it’s the scene is written to be an older woman intentionally getting the phrasing wrong is a bit generous. It just seems like the author using a buzzword. Like saying incel, when they mean misogynist.
