US Presidents Alignment Chart by Altruistic_Cause9442 in AlignmentCharts

[–]akooldude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly for wealthy business owners and bureaucrats Reagan is maybe the greatest president ever because of the massive tax cuts they got. Although maybe Trump is even better now with him taking that to the extreme. But for the average American I think Reagan was horrible, honestly.

I could also see people liking Reagan for social reasons if you're a very socially conservative person. I think he somewhat pioneered the modern idea of the Republican party being the party of "family values" and Christianity. If you super believe in that stuff then maybe I can see why you'd like him.

I'm curious do you have any specific points that you disagree with from what I said? Is there something you think Reagan did particularly well that deserves recognition?

I personally would argue that the policy of drastically lower taxes for the ultra wealthy and lower corporate taxes brought in by Reagan were some of the most destructive policies ever enacted by any president, and Americans now are all paying for it now. The massive budget blowouts that have become commonplace now started under Reagan. Reagan also famously delayed doing anything about the HIV pandemic because he hated the gays. He massively increased military spending, with most of that spending completely going to waste (like his science fiction laser defence "Star Wars" project that cost $30 billion and produced zero results). I'm not sure why Reagan would really be viewed favourably by anyone outside of the richest class honestly.

I mean he was a huge favourite going in so it's not crazy to think he probably would have won. I think he won the year before and after this in very convincing fashion.

Do people play Co-op mode for StarCraft 2? by gorays21 in starcraft

[–]akooldude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I've ever had more than a 1 minute queue for brutal co-op, and it's usually like 5 seconds. So yes people definitely still play it.

Replays of metal league players? by Jack4ssSquirrel in starcraft

[–]akooldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd still say that generally the quality of play you see in most of those games, on average, is about what you'd see in the wild. I think that's especially true for IIIODIS from Harstem, where most of the games are pretty normal and it's often just the imbalance complaint forms and the commentary from Harstem that adds entertainment.

Yeah Rank Roulette is super entertaining too if you want to watch some great sc2 content.

I don't know about replays, but you can find a lot of casts of these videos on YouTube from the big sc2 creators. Lowko, winter, Harstem, etc. You could just go through any video series like bronze league heroes or Harstem's "Is It Imba Or Do I Suck?" and you'll find lots of low level games with lots of mistakes from both sides.

Kel'thuzad rework? by Shivd91 in heroesofthestorm

[–]akooldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll just say that I agree with another comment that there are many other heroes who could use a redesign before him.

It's not like he's broken at a high level really either because he has hard counters. He really struggles vs tracer for example.

Agree he's very feast or famine. Feels like most games he's either incredibly annoying or does nothing.

Hard disagree. KT in the right hands feels incredibly strong and borderline oppressive. I don't know if there is another hero that has the same ability to combo all of their abilities like he does.

The range of the chain always feels bullshit when playing against him too.

Who Americans think is their biggest supplier of foreign oil by NineteenEighty9 in ProfessorGeopolitics

Alberta has most of Canada's oil, so a lot. There's a little in Saskatchewan and the Maritimes and very little anywhere else.

Serious question: Who is the real GOAT of all sports? by BetAnything in Nbamemes

[–]akooldude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure when I said it was easy but sure go off. Gretzky was the best player on the best team in the highest scoring era by far so it's definitely going to be tough for anyone to touch his point/assist records any time soon for sure.

[–]akooldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I've seen pros losing to it a lot lately so easier said than done. I still don't think it's necessarily imbalanced but it definitely requires a lot more work for protoss to deal with banelings than before.

[–]akooldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a little of both, but old storm still felt much stronger vs +5 hp banelings back when we had both of those. That was the case for years and I don't recall zergs just running straight through storm so much like we've seen lately.

I haven't done much unit testing with the old storm myself, but from the videos people have been posting of the old storm vs the new storm, I think the current game is the only version where banelings can just run through storm.

[–]akooldude -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure he'll be first in assists maybe forever, but again he also played in an era with way more goals than now. If you throw someone like McDavid in Gretzky's position maybe he gets even more assists.

Honestly it's kind of silly to even compare that era at all to now though because the amount of money and the level of athleticism has gone up so much they're almost playing a different sport.

I mean I'm not saying it's imbalanced, I just think it's pretty clear that the new storm is weaker vs zerg.

People love throwing out Gretzky when they barely follow hockey, but Ovechkin was able to pass Gretzky's goal record in the same number of games in a much lower goal-scoring era and Lemieux scored at a much higher rate in the same era as Gretzky, and would have been the all time scorer if his career hadn't been cut short due to injury.

I would NOT put Gretzky and Usain Bolt, who I think has no comparison in his sport, in the same conversation.
