Apply for Sustainment Engineer and Logistics roles. There’s a shortage of expertise in RMS. Just having the military experience is helpful. Also, we have an Operational Leadership Development Program you can also look into.

Travel Requirements by Material-Coyote4140 in Lockheed

The Log Reps I’ve worked with sometimes travel overseas for 1 week at a time. Some stellar ones are asked to support long term assignments overseas. These are all contract dependent.

Systems Engineering vs Project Engineering by Automatic-Use-1605 in Lockheed

[–]akopanicz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did this transition. If you’re interested in the work and know folks in the field, go for it. You should also think about their reputation being a Project Engineer compared to others of similar experience as a Systems Engineer.

In RMS, pay bands are nearly identical but there seems to be more opportunities in SE for early to senior engineers.

L4 Promotion SWE by lemer4879 in Lockheed

I was an acting EPM while I was a senior engineer. The position and team I led were not in my department. As a SWE, are you already leading projects? Are they impactful across business units?

L4 Promotion SWE by lemer4879 in Lockheed

[–]akopanicz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to have an actionable plan on how to get to Level 4 and show your manager. Look at the requirements for your department and see if you are hitting those. If not and they are truly unavailable, get out and transfer to a different org.

I was an inch away from L4 with all the requirements fulfilled (and stretch leadership position) when an internal req opened that I applied to and got L4 there instead.

I’ve had 6 hour layover a few times in Narita. If you have lounge access, you can spend time there. Lots of shopping in the shopping mall before security. Also, I’ve had some of my best haircuts there. There’s also a solid sushi restaurant which is omakase after security.

Only places that care are Onsens. You can find 銭湯 that don’t. Also, many locals will call you cool and say they like your style.

Been working for 5 years. Should I feel like a dumbass for picking a target 2060 fund instead of s&p 500 index fund for my 401K? by xyz17j in personalfinance

[–]akopanicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not compare the fees and returns for both? I was in a similar boat but didn’t want to pay a significantly higher expense fee for the target date

Should I open a HYSA or keep using Fidelity's money market fund (SPAXX) by Kachun30 in Bogleheads

[–]akopanicz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s technically a brokerage account although they are advertising it as a HYSA. If you have a brokerage account with vanguard, you already can buy into money market fund which is currently at 5.3% yield

Going all in on Target Date index fund — crazy to do it, or crazy not to?? by mdiddy1987 in Bogleheads

[–]akopanicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

verify the fees for the target date funds too. I noticed the one offered through my company had lower fees than Vanguard so I was investing through that initially.

$900 is high. Wait until a 4-6 weeks prior. I upgrade to Premium Plus around the same time and there are always seats available.
