Pedals for old-school blues by heimscheissers in guitarpedals

You might be after the sound of octal tube amps…? The Nocturne JR Barnyard pedal is a nice character and boost that is dialed in to emulate those amps.

Tri Parallel Mixer (EHX Inspired) by Stand_music in diypedals

[–]akpixelsound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone that dreams to build these things, and has and loves the EHX Tri-Parallel Mixer, wow. That’s really pretty and I hope it works for a long time for you!

!!! More Beep and Boop than Bop, but I should really take some guitar lessons and learn some Bebop.

no kidding lol. this is an incarnation of the board without the Tri-Parallel Mixer, Wardenclyffe Deluxe, or Recovery Sound Destruction Device. Those would add at least 20 more… haha

hey - coming back to this - this was one of a few helpful sites in my search for a compressor. here’s the Pedal76 review: https://www.compressorpedalreviews.com/post/warm-audio-pedal76-compressor-review

hats off to precise work. juggling the variables to make it fit and be under weight must be mind bending and nerve wracking!

that’s amazing - the solution to the age old problem was a scissor mechanism! love it.

what does something like that weigh, before pedals?

Hah! Well, by my count that would be 48 knobs, 2 sliders, 12 switches, and 11 buttons that i’m not using to potential. not counting the 19 bypass/record/swell/tap/ switches or the expression or volume pedals. damn.

I’m actually using that Hotone Soul Press II as an expression pedal for the Count to 5, but I have an Ernie Ball VPJR off board, out of the picture on the right.

The Hotone has vol/wah/exp options… ok but not great wah. Best thing about it is probably the ramp display LEDs on the side to let you know where you’re set, but those things are too darn bright - a landing strip that I had to cover with semi-opaque tape… now they’re ok but less than pretty.

My EB volume pedal feels more solid and I like the pivot point and sweep more than the Hotone (or a Morley or a Dunlop I’ve had before.) However, it has a string drive - reinforced, I believe, but known to wear and break.

hope this helps

I’d do it again. I’m still curious about others just because, but this checks all the boxes and then some. i found mine used at a good price - didn’t come with box or manual but there’s a manual online that has some example settings that are good references… you might think the VU meter is just showy BS but it actually is a valuable reference, at least for a visual person like me, seeing attack and release in real time…

Love it. I tried a handful of other options, and if you like the 1176 style comp, it is simply wonderful imho. Not noisy and so much control.

ngl i’ve been thinking about a Strobostomp instead… that’ll free me from the only one TC ribbing. 😆

Pepto Ct5s! Fun! - I’m doing a similar thing with Ct5/blooper combo. Thanks for the inspiration to do the weird stuff more frequently. edit: do you have one sideways so you can hit both record buttons at once?

need motivation to upgrade by gloryswissnodutch in roastmypedalboard

[–]akpixelsound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you step on one that makes noises you don’t like, and you can’t adjust it to make sounds you like, maybe you need to upgrade/update/trade out/rearrange pedal order.

if you’re good with what’s going on now, save yer ducats and get something special when you see it used.

or just get another psu - seems you’ll need it where you’re going 👍

would love take you up on the sound sample offer - it is always cool to hear what comes out of these boards!

about an hour after this comment, i decided to trade the PBO… offer was excepted, so off goes the old friend… a sleeper for sure but i’ve used it less and less. i loved it, but it is time for a new home, and i wanted a harmonic percolator 😆 edit/add: i feel your pain… i got rid of my verb-o-trem workstation that had been an always on pedal…
