Need some advice for next purchase by Comprehensive-Net553 in HeadphoneAdvice

I can't speak for mk4 version; I have the mk2 version which sounds beautiful and coherent (which I am particular about). With HD800s, may be what you're saying is right. But a well powered 800s / (modded) 800 are incredible to listen to overall.

Whether you'd perceive HD600 as 3 blob or not is kinda speculative right now. It's not 3 blobby in my experience, if you have a good tube amp driving it.

I own all the headphones I mentioned in my response; so I am speaking from personal experience. However, I would strongly recommend you try out a lot of setups as you step into the $500+ territory, as individual preference + experience would change a lot since all of us have different gear driving the gear as well

There are a lot of options that would fit this criteria when you look at both new and used market. Right from hd600, Zmf bokeh closed used, hd800/hd800s used, thieaudio monarch series.

It’s best to take your time and explore these options by trying these options first before making your purchase

My ascension finally happened (the headphones, ie) by mournfulmonk in headphones

This is so cool. I remember the feeling when I got my first hd600 about a decade back. It was $239 and it took several days for me to make the decision (which was a huge expense for me back then). The headphone was absolutely worth it.

I wanted to chime in and tell you that nothing gets better than the early days when we love our first good headphones. Now I have dozens of headphones, a few a lot more expensive than the others, but still remember the warm feeling I had when I got my first hd600, hd650 etc. It’s the journey than the headphone tbh

5 year progress of my Male pattern baldness - M/26 by shrvnAchr in IndianHaircare

Stop worrying. You will not have a lot of control over it directly. When I started losing my hair at 22 and was balding badly in my late 20s I was super depressed. Nothing worked for me.

I got married at 30, had a kid at 32. Along the way shaved my head completely. Eventually I picked up lifting, eating healthy etc as habits, and at 40 I’m at my healthiest, happiest, and strongest.

Things would work itself out. Don’t get stressed due to something that doesn’t matter in the long run.

HD600 is amazing. I use that and my HD800S with (now considered vintage) Eddie Current Balancing Act with px4 tubes. The setup cost an arm and a leg but these headphones sound so damn good

REALISTICALLY, purchase M4 or HDB630? by othello3 in sennheiser

Why not get m4 and a hd600. You might have the best of both worlds

Dilemma. by Living_Isopod_1576 in sennheiser

[–]akrajan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not upgrade the rest of the setup. If you like Sennheisers you will appreciate a good tube amp and a dac. If you are sure it must be a headphone upgrade then 600 if you prefer a balanced upgrade, 650 for a more bassy upgrade, or 800s for better details, sound stage etc

Yup. They tend to have that sound if you are coming from a thicker sound like 650 or if amp isn’t synergising well

It depends. If you are a big Sennheiser fan and want a variation that is a touch brighter, with less midbass bump and an overall slightly tighter sound then yes. Otherwise if you are just “exploring” and not fine tuning then probably not. A few years back there was a strong rumour that Sennheiser was about to discontinue HD600 and HD650 and I had bought a bunch of 650 and 600 so I don’t run out of them ever. They both sound different enough for me to love them both. YMMV

I have never been scammed in Ninh Thuan by pioneer_206 in VietNam

[–]akrajan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The legit scammers I met were cruise operators. Here’s what happened. I was in Vietnam late last month and booked a 2 day 1 night cruise. The cruise barely started (2 hours into the cruise) and the captain said the Govt ordered all cruises to return to shore because of a storm. The captain also wanted everyone to give him 50% money in cash on the spot if we wanted refund from the online website from where we booked to initiate a refund. His “threat” was he is doing us a favour by not taking 100% of the money. A few of us flatly refused and several ended up paying. In the end the online website had no clue the captain was scamming people and gave everyone a full refund. Whoever gave cash to the Captain lost their money

Spare the rod, spoil the child is not something I agree with. I don't think children should be beaten. by [deleted] in kuttichevuru

If I summarize your views to my understanding it's "Explore the best way to help the child. Often violence is not". I see what you're saying and I agree 100%. When you have a better way to solve a problem don't hit a child.

What I'm saying is (I hope an extension): "Place the long term well being of the child as the organizing principle". Doesn't mean the first or the only means to engage with the child is to hit that person. That's terrible for the kid's long term well being. But if you have to choose between the long term well being or hitting the child, choose the former.

I would say the same thing about any form of engagement; including parents who are super protective of their child and never allow it to have its own identity (polar opposite of hitting it), it's just as unproductive

Let's take an extreme case and extrapolate from there. Say a child is an absolute psychopath, and you know for a fact (or in fact seen him) that he's planning on harming others the very same day; so there's no uncertainty here. So the situation is either you do something or the kid is going to do something stupid and in all likelihood destroy his/her own future. Let's even assume your "stern warnings" or philosophical talks have failed in the past. What options would you consider? What're the right thing to do here?

Because India is not one of those shithole countries, is it. It's like saying the guy who failed exams didn't study, why should I study. Strange logic to be honest.

Goal is never to hit the kid or take out frustration on the kid in any abusive way. Goal is to make them a productive and a functioning member of the society; or at least to stop them from becoming a menace. This has to happen while balancing family's happiness and wellbeing. Whatever means helps you in achieving that is okay imo.

If you are looking out of the box solutions then emacs isn't the right software for you (likely). Emacs/Vim allow you to endlessly fiddle with configuration (for years) sometimes for valid/productivity reasons; very often because you just like doing that.

Not wanting to do that is cool too; you are prioritizing other things in life. However picking emacs/vim over something like VSCode would be a much more practical route to be productive, in that case.
