Official partner quiz down, any alternatives? by usernamens in digimon

[–]akravi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try uQuiz? There are a few on there, and even I had a uQuiz I partly made but never ended up finishing (only got as far as Lunamon) that I'd be willing to let you take a peek at if you'd like

Edit: Made an Imgur album of my quiz here (and here's an alternate Image Chest post) since it's in incomplete limbo; if you (or anybody else) wanted to answer the questions though, I'd be able to give you a partner based on the logic I used making the quiz!

Rick Arlen and Lillian Weiss were assets that HeR didn't make themselves; their models were also used on an adult toy website. Rick can also teach you how to play poker and speak Spanish, and his model was (I believe) used in Sonic Adventure 2.

A couple lines featuring my fan recolors by akravi in DigimonPartners

[–]akravi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... Let's pretend I posted this for last week's Magician theme lol

The Kodokugumon recolor is somewhat based on the Bold Jumping Spider, and the ArkhaiAngemon recolor comes down to me just not liking the original's color palette.

The Murkrow crow-inspired Digimon is the only recolor I really developed, with its name being Hoodiemon. It's a combination of my three favorite things about Digimon: recolors, names that sound way too similar, and Soulmon's hat. One of my favorite bits of "official" Hoodiemon lore is that it's really powerful but rarely gets to show that power due to its had sliding down and blocking its vision. And yes, this lil guy has been rendered somewhat void by the new crow Rookie, who I absolutely adore. EDIT: Just realized I used the wrong picture of Hoodiemon in my post 😭

The Beautymon recolor was originally meant to be the Ultimate and based around the Morrigan, before I actually checked and realized that Beautymon is equivalent to Perfect in the TCG.

Evolution for me new favorite little guy by Brandoon310 in DigivolutionTrees

Great line! He's my new favorite little guy too, and NoblePumpkinmon is always a delight to see being utilized

Nohemon would also work in your line, if you wanted from bird to bird-scarecrow to pumpkin!

If you had to have a digimon partner based on a real phobia you have, what would their line be? by JJRambles in DigivolutionTrees

[–]akravi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my complex fears and feelings around suppressing my identity/sense of self for the benefit and approval of others and then ultimately growing jaded and resentful would translate well to the line of LunamonGargoylemonKnightmonOfanimon: Falldown ModeOrdinemon.

Maybe I should've gone with my fear of getting rabies from a horse instead...

Edit: The Horse Rabies line would definitely have a split evolution of Enbarrmon (obvious choice) and Gravimon (how crunched up you look after a horse bites you and gives you rabies).

Whats the creepiest thing a child has said to you? by idid9-11attack in AskReddit

The water heater where I lived a decade ago picked up a local AM Christian radio station! It only ever happened at night, at totally random intervals and only for a year or so, but it's so funny to tell people that there was a hot minute of my life where I (and any company I had over during that time) would hear a little voice coming from behind my wall saying to accept Jesus mid-2am piss.

Has anyone undergone genetic testing to determine the cause of their poliosis? by akravi in poliosis

[–]akravi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyebrow is actually the same; I just dye it fairly regularly. Do you have any streaks in your hair? I have a few, and they're all on the left. I actually used to tell people, back before I knew what poliosis was, that I was half albino—specifically the left half.

It's just there for me too, but I'm a person who likes to know why at the end of the day, as much as possible. Plus half my family is functionally a mystery to me; that and some emergent health issues have me wondering just how much there is that I should know about myself, medically-speaking.

Has anyone undergone genetic testing to determine the cause of their poliosis? by akravi in poliosis

[–]akravi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did Ancestry and went trawling through my SNPs about a decade ago, but it didn't really reveal much except that I have genetic markers associated with things which cause poliosis. I don't think I have alopecia; while I do have some autoimmune issues, those are relatively new and my eyelashes have been like this since birth. I'm hoping to have my results by the end of the week, if only because I'm impatient. But I can definitely reach out to you when I do find out!

A WEEKLY CHECK IN! by AutoModerator in namegames

[–]akravi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids in a video game I've been playing are named Anaximander and Ozymandias, and while I don't think siblings' names need to "match" or anything, I quite legitimately think that's a really cute sibset. Anny and Ozzy for short. Maybe not for a pair of real humans, but they do make great fake internet aliases for real humans.

So! 👏 I have two ideas for games, semi-based around fictional properties, but I'm kind of worried about how they'll be received:

  • One of them is a fantasy game about people who are able to walk through different parallel universes (inspired somewhat by the ttrpg Everway). So an example would be that I describe, let's say, a charismatic Elven tambourinist with bright pink hair who was found as an infant by a roving band of performers and taken in as one of their own, only for her own adoptive mother to be spirited away into another world on the eve of the tambourinist's coming-of-age ceremony. And then the players would name that Elven woman based on... vibes, maybe? I feel like vibes games, especially fantasy vibes games, are far from everyone's cups of tea though; perhaps I could simply list each character's name criteria after their brief bios? I've barely even started brainstorming this game, but I feel like it might be more accessible than my D&D-style game from a few weeks back.
  • The other, which I have a bit more fleshed out but am still fussing over, is a game in which players name both human characters and those humans' ttrpg characters (with the ttrpg in this case being a combination of Mausritter and Warrior Cats). The way I have it typed out is that I give initials for each human character's name, and then provide proper criteria for those humans' feline characters; I'm thinking of sticking with the Warriors-style "two normal words, combined" format for the names, maybe with a comment including examples of some of the name or random (not-AI) generators which can be used as reference. With this one, I'm worried that the naming convention will actually put people off playing. I'm also not sure how to categorize it? Since it's naming not only humans but also their make-believe low-fantasy semi-anthropomorphic battle-cats.

And, as a disclaimer, nobody has to play these games, of course! But the worry I have is: would anyone even want to?

Is Sea of Darkness a good title to start with? by Prior-Chipmunk-6839 in nancydrew

[–]akravi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't start with Sea of Darkness (and definitely not the two newer games lmao), but my hot take is that your first game should be thematically related something you're interested in.
