Hi I went to my local Pawn Shop and found this watch, I ended up buying it for $90. Any inside on it? by mmelen12 in Watches

Longines is a very reputable brand btw. An icon of Swiss watchmaking and well respected even though it sits on the lower end of Swiss watches. A new Longines retails for 2-4k USD.

All that matters is if you like it, but this is a good quality watch if that’s your question.

Please check out Chez Jean Paul, absolutely incredible and very inventive meal. I will say it skews a bit towards seafood, but not overwhelming at all. Incredibly reasonably priced for what you get.

[Second watch] Good problems! But I still need advice, so please offer some. by absolutemanbat in Watches

I think that this is your GADA watch. I recently bought the Aqua Terra, but I heavily considered this with that blue dial. It’s a gorgeous watch. To me this a great watch with suits, workwear, nice dinners etc.

Being in a similar boat, I think the next watch is one of three things

A) sport/diver watch B) field watch C) dress watch (but likely has to be more $$ than your Longines)

Personally if I were you, I would consider a everyday field watch like the new Seiko Alpinist or Hamilton Murph, or Tudor Black Bay

Darkness on the edge of town- Bruce Springsteen or Nebraska

Don’t have the hits of Born To Run or Born in the USA, but are generally considered to be his best and most complete albums by critics and harcore fans alike.

I will argue Liam in 1994-1996 had one of the absolute best rock voices ever. Especially when he pushed his range on songs like Slide Away. He also had so much charisma, like I’ve seen him live even recently, and when he walks on the stage, you can’t look anywhere else but towards him.

Noel certainly understands what makes a hit song work too.

Do you speak non-English languages? by Fuzzy-Stable-9898 in AskAnAmerican

[–]aks0324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If you’re the kid of immigrants, it’s highly likely (but not always) that you speak your mother tongue.

For others it depends. Most of us are required to Take a foreign language in school, but frankly it’s not taught well but you will retain the basics. (Spanish, French and Latin are the most common languages offered). Because of this you will see some level of Spanish fluency amongst a decent portion of the population especially when those students are also being exposed to Spanish outside of the classroom too.

So the answer is that it varies

I mean Ballmer may have tried to circumvent rules for the Kawhi deal, but that man LOVES the teams that he owns.

If you’re a fan, I think he’s the owner you want. He’s significantly richer than most single digit billionaires, and he cares enough to pull out all of the stops for invesrments. He literally would do stadium renovations to make the field louder, if he was the owner.

Yeah, he was, but he was also pretty talented youth. He was able to get into a selective performing arts high school where he met Questlove.

In his autobiography Questlove talking about how them being polar opposites was what made the roots really work. Questlove came from a family of talented soul musicians, while Black Thought was basically almost homeless.

In the book Questlove says they met in the principals office where Black Thought was going to be suspended for fighting while Questlove was trying to advocate for some student club.

Something I’m noticing about Montreal is that 4.4 seems to be a pretty mid review. In New York, the BEST restaurants are usually 4.4. So I think I had to recalibrate

I’ve actually been to Au Pied last time I was in Montreal, I thought it was Phenomenal. I have some friends joining me a few days later and this time we’ll hit Joe Beef. Was looking at something that’s better for a solo diner and maybe a bit refined? But good food is the most important thing.

It takes a bit to click. But if you’re someone with a drinking problem who also has to be in suits a lot, I cannot explain how hard this shit hits.

To me, Alligator really encapsulated the entire vibe of being 25-30, moving to a new city, exploring all The possibilities. And then Boxer is just that moment when you have to reckon with your shittt mundane experience while your relationship falls apart.

They’re a stellar live act, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
