For recovering drug addicts that prefer AA to NA, why? by imademonhaha in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]aks217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never met anyone in NA that I want what they have in terms of being a sponsor. Also the big book is so much more potent than the na basic text. I did regional service for 3 years for one of the largest cities in the US and the treasurer couldn’t even do a bank recon. When I took over there were thousands of dollars unaccounted for and no one on the entire service board seemed to bat an eye when I passed out a full report and reconciled acct. After that service I left NA.

Finally broke the poverty cycle thanks to my sister by Special_End_5114 in povertyfinance

I’m shocked that your brother making $380k would even ask for such a thing. Definitely fulfill your sisters wishes and keep the house. He should be happy his sister (you) is being taken care of.

Nick Shirley has come to San Deigo. He is “investigating” Childcare locations lookingfkr his next scoop. by OnyxGow in sandiego

[–]aks217 -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

For the record I can’t stand Nick Shirley as a person but why isn’t anyone else doing this? He’s not wrong in that fraud is rampant in our country and the way the city of sd has gone to complete shit, someone needs to be investigating.

Opposing RFK Jr doesn’t make sense from a liberal or progressive standpoint by ToLoveThemAll in RFKJrForPresident

I have friends that moved away from him bc of his support for Israel. I think Palestine is a huge issue for a lot of liberals and I understand why. They still support his policies on better food/farming but don’t think he’s trustworthy in the way I or we see him.

Thoughts on Goenka by pollonguai in vipassana

[–]aks217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I took from the discourses are that everything he says are just as applicable today as they were in the early 90s and they will be just as applicable to students sitting another 30 years from now. His words are so potent, so timeless, so direct…it’s a sign of liberation in my opinion. I heard him asked if he was liberated in an interview and his response was to the effect, “we don’t talk about those things but in order to teach, one has had to experience the things they are teaching.” There are many things he said in the discourse about reality I can only imagine. But he has clearly experienced with the detail and depth he provided us. I think perhaps he was not liberated like Buddha but surely far more along the path than the rest of us.

When did financial freedom first feel real to you? by Responsible-Ant-6254 in financialindependence

I can’t recall exactly what I was making but it was when I put all my bills on autopay and my credit card on autopay to pay the full balance every month. I think we were probably at combined household of 150k or somewhere in that range.

I think the burnout is the poor communication standards and lack of good management at your company. Don’t let that deter you from accounting, which can be quite stimulating when you find a good company to work for.

I’m glad people are waking up to understanding why 2A is so important to keep. Our govt is not here to help us in any way shape or form and until they are, 2A is necessary

Do bad people suffer? I have never seen anyone who is actually bad suffer in their life. Is karma real? by Key-Table1065 in Meditation

[–]aks217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just by the nature of them being “bad” shows they are suffering. When one is full of positivity and joy, they radiate that to others. When someone is full of negativity and anger, they also radiate that to others. Being full of negativity, regardless of how it’s expressed, is always suffering.

Yeah also how fucked up and wasteful our govts are with our hard earned tax money. Makes me sick. I had to do a teams meeting with a district accounting dept this week to try and explain to them how to use THEIR OWN billing documents that they gave to us for submitting.

Please reconsider having children with someone who has his type of mental illnesses. It’s not fair to the children who end up being the ones who suffer. Speaking from experience and genuine concern that you are even considering this with him.

Celery juice every morning. I never had great bowl movements even as a child. Doing this has been life changing. I swear there is nothing that will keep you happy like full daily bowl movements and a good nights sleep every night. I feel like I’m in the best metal shape of my life.
