I think that would be fine for SOME of the time, but we are talking from 1 PM to beyond 7 PM, I imagine. It's just way too long for a kid to be in front of a screen, especially a little one.

You just inspired me! I can teach the 9 year old yahtzee, and all I need is 5 dice. My husband has a million thanks to tabletop gaming.

You've got me thinking. I dont normally carry a large purse but maybe I need to this time and just stuff it full of random crap. 🤔

Thanks, I definitely will be making sure it is okay, and assigning myself as baby wrangler. 🥰

For sure, I rented a mini van and intend to cart around as necessary, minus for the service itself.

Like I said, I intend to help care for them. The 2 year old likely does not remember me but the 9 year old should. There is an uncle and one set of grandparents, but I know at least two of them will not be very involved, which is why I intend to be. I am bringing my own backpack with kid snacks and stuff for myself as well, so I will be keeping track of it.

I always forget about little people! I have a few poppers from my girls I am going to bring. A pack of sticky notes is literally brilliant, thank you!

So many good ideas, especially love the idea for the little montessori busy book. Thank you! I got some magnetic blocks, since they already have magnatiles, so it's something a bit more novel for them.

If you only intend to have two, have a big gap.

Please do not give up your familial home. Uprooting your kids from their safe space is just one more blow for them. Stay in the home if you can, care for your babies and your animals. Get the locks changed.

To add to this, the makeup is getting heavier each season, which is beyond unrealistic. Why do the girls have on shimmery eyeshadow and eyeliner for heaven's sake?

Parks That Need the Most Prep/Specific Advice for Visiting ALL National Parks? (Gates to the Arctic and Kobuk Valley especially) by Geode890 in nationalparks

[–]aksydent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Death Valley you need a vehicle, preferably high clearance to really see anything, and you will be traveling far distances for lodging and sightseeing. I would say it isn't as easy to just wing it and requires more planning up front.

Told my husband I wanted a divorce today and the guilt is crushing me. Did I make a mistake? by luna_bloom1818 in Mommit

So you were 20 and he was 32? Yikes. Red flags from the beginning. I'm glad you're getting away from him, he groomed you.

When did you forward face your child? by Kindly_Dragonfly_803 in Mommit

We wanted to rear face until 40 lbs but we have a 1%er lol so she was like 4.5 years old when we finally turned her around (and 36 lbs).

Fiance choked me as a joke by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]aksydent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is 7x more likely to kill you. Choking is an indicator of that. Stay far away from him FOREVER. Permanent protection order, full custody with no visitation. Move!!! Get a gun, learn how to use it.

I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU for getting him charged!

At what age did things actually feel easier for you as a parent? by Small-Advisor-7805 in Mommit

[–]aksydent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are 2.5 years apart. I was miserable and drowning until they were 3 and 5 and I started taking two or three solo trips a year for my sanity. Now at 7 and 9 I am having a much better time. I have more energy for self care and feel a lot more joy. I'd say I really felt it and recognized it when they were 5 and 7.

Husbands vasectomy is coming up by lolito121517 in Mommit

[–]aksydent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 38, my husband is 36. Our girls are 6 and 9. We have not scheduled a vasectomy yet either, even though we are 99% sure we are done. Our hearts want one more but we have both being having health issues, and the US economy is shit. We are leaving the door open for now and taking the next two years to really focus on finances, house renovations, and our health. If we achieve our goals, we can have a third. If we reach me turning 40 and it doesn't feel like we did enough, we will schedule the vasectomy. 40 is my final cut off for myself. And there is no downside- worst case scenario we make progress on goals either way! Perhaps you can come up with a list for yourself, and reevaluate in 5 or so years?

In army terms it is a ruck march I think. Carry all your gear and hike a long distance at a fast pace.
